When Bai Meiyue woke up, the sky had turned dark. She squinted and opened her eyes before turning to look at the clock. It was six in the evening. She yawned and sat up straight on the bed. Now that she had woken up, Bai Meiyue could hear the sound of laughter and chatter from the living room.
Listening to the sounds, she wondered if she had turned momentarily deaf. If not, how could she sleep through this noise? She arched her hands over her head and then went to take a bath. The weather had turned colder and nothing felt better than taking a dip in the warm water; of course, Bai Meiyue didn’t dare to stay too long in the water for fear of catching a cold.

"Its okay, its okay. I will protect you from now on, no one will hurt you," Bai Meiyue felt her eyes sting when she saw Ciyi like this. She promised herself that she would find Ciyi and bring her to her side. But she was still a step too late.
When she went to the pet shop, Ciyi was taken away and she had no idea who bought her and the owner of the shop refused to disclose the identity of the owner. Bai Meiyue always thought that her friend actually bought Ciyi but turned out that this pup was actually a rescue dog.
Looking at the shivering little thing, Bai Meiyue sighed and brought her to her lap. She hugged and coaxed the little pup for a long time only then did the little pup calm down and take a bite of the jerky. But with each bite, she paused and shrunk her neck before taking a peek at Bai Meiyue.
It was as if she was worried that Bai Meiyue would hit her if she was to eat another bite.
"My mom is getting depressed after being cooped up in the house for so long," Lei Qian walked over to Bai Meiyue’s side with a flattering smile. He said to her, "She has been complaining about having nothing to do for quite some time, so I thought it was better for her to stay with your mother. If she has a friend, my mother will feel a bit at ease."
