Chapter 153: Bai Family’s Kindness

After she finished speaking, Wen Mian picked up the bucket of soil and walked over to the empty space that needed to be filled with several layers of soil. Bai Jixuan watched them work hard and didn’t say anything. He had been working hard and finally sat down to take a rest.

Just as he picked up the water bottle to take a sip, he heard the sound of the door opening and Mother Bai walked inside. She was carrying three bowls of beef bone soup and rice. Though it was a simple meal, the scent of warm soup and rice made the three people in the room pause and look at the tray that Mother Bai was holding with greedy eyes.

Meng Qibao hadn’t eaten anything for more than a week and felt really hungry. He could feel his stomach rumbling at the scent of the beef bone broth and rice, though he and his sister scavenged some supplies with them because of Meng Anzhi, who wanted to suck to this and that; those supplies were gone the second they turned their back on their bags.

When they refused to hand those supplies over, Meng Anzhi would fight with them and snatch those supplies with the help of others.@@@@

But when they ran out of supplies, no one came to help them. Even those who stole their supplies refused to return anything and Meng Anzhi, who had been clamouring for days, also became quiet. She had been yelling and making a fuss when they refused to hand the supplies to others but when it was their turn, that woman sat still and didn’t say a word.

Because of this, they had to go hungry for days.

Now that they were finally getting a decent meal, Meng Qibao was so excited that his eyes turned red. Looking at the size of the rice bowl, he had to admit that Bai Meiyue and her family members were really kind. At least they gave them a bowl of rice big enough to make them feel full.

He looked at the warm soup that was steaming hot with a few slices of meat and spring onions and gulped hard.

Mother Bai saw that the three of them were hungry and said to them, "Come here; there is no need to work so hard. You can take it easy. Lets eat first, if you want then? You can go ahead and take a nap in one of the apartments that are empty. You can come back after two hours and start working again."

Meng Suisui then walked upstairs and went to look for Meng Anzhi. Though she was indeed hurt by Meng Anzhi’s actions, she could not forget the kindness her aunt and uncle had shown to her.

With the absence of the two, Meng Suisui knew that Meng Anzhi was the only one left in their family. Because of this, she couldn’t completely turn a blind eye to Meng Anzhi like Meng Qibao.

Although the penthouse that Bai Feng owned was big, with so many people crowding inside, it seemed close to bursting. When Meng Suisui entered the house, she realised that she couldn’t even find a place to put her foot down with so many people squeezed in.

Even though Bai Xue had taken them in her house, it was impossible for her to let these people take over the empty rooms; thus, everyone had to lie down on the floor with sacks or on the carpet.

Some people had broken a few pieces of exquisite furniture and started a fire to warm up.

Meng Suisui looked around and finally found Meng Anzhi trying to hit a chat with a popular actor and pursed her lips. She wondered what was going on inside Meng Anzhi’s head. She knew that the world had ended, so why was she still chasing stars?

Though Meng Suisui was helpless and annoyed, she still called out to Meng Anzhi,

"Anzhi, come here."

Since she couldn’t enter the house, she could only call Meng Anzhi to come out.

When Meng Anzhi heard her voice, she was a bit annoyed as she felt Meng Suisui had disturbed her. However, she still stood up and walked out of the house by using the small path that the people had left on the floor. What she didn’t know was that as soon as her back was turned, the man behind her heaved a sigh of relief.
