Chapter 61: Learning how to control the water essence

"Brother, what’s—what’s going on? Should we help—"

Lu Yin wanted to open the door of the car and help the old lady but before she could even touch the latch of the door, Lu Yu snapped harshly, "No!"

Startled Lu Yin pulled back her hand from the latch and turned to look at her brother. "Brother?"

"Don’t open the door; there is nothing we can do." Lu Yu’s face was not good because, unlike his sister, he had been paying attention to the road. Thus, he knew that the thing that rushed past their car was not another car but a giant rat!

Damn it, what Bai Meiyue said was indeed the truth.

Once he got over his fear, Lu Yu turned the ignition on and drove away.

Lu Yin watched her brother abandon the old woman without helping her and her expression turned a bit complicated. Though she didn’t say it out loud, she blamed her brother for being too heartless!

Far from the street, Bai Meiyue was standing in the large bathtub inside the bathing room. Though she did not know whether Lei Qian would wake up or not, she knew that the man was not someone who would die easily. Since he awakened in her last life, he would certainly awaken this time around as well.

The chances of him awakening were very high!

Bai Meiyue continued to let the water be absorbed in her skin until it was coursing in her veins like blood. The water essence continued to flow inside her veins until it reached the core that had awakened within her like a bunch of piranhas attacking their prey.

Once the water essence was completely soaked up, the water in the tub disappeared, and Bai Meiyue opened her eyes. She stopped looking for essence to soak up; instead, she tried to manipulate the essence that she had absorbed just now.

She raised her hand and released the essence from her core; at first she only created a thin spring but then she continued to release more and more essence until the small spring turned into a large funnel with water swirling in a threatening manner, like it was going to swallow everything whole.

She slowed the pace of the funnel before speeding up again and then swallowing most of the essence back and letting the rest become a large sword in her hand.

Bai Meiyue’s hand itched to swing the sword in her hand but she sighed and controlled that sudden urge before letting go of the control that she had over the essence, and the water fell back in the tub.

Seeing that she was able to master controlling the essence, Bai Meiyue heaved a sigh of relief; at least she wouldn’t have to worry about not being able to protect herself or her family once the apocalypse started. At the same time, she wondered if she would be able to awaken her dual core properly this time around.

Lei Qian rose to the top because he was able to awaken both fire and wind powers. He was one of the few supernatural beings who had awakened as a dual power user and was able to use them at will without any trouble, something Bai Meiyue couldn’t do as she had little to no control over her ice powers.

Bai Meiyue was thinking about what cultivation strategy to use to awaken her dual core; her stomach lurched and she immediately hopped out of the bath tub and rushed to the toilet, where she threw up everything.

She didn’t know how long she continued to violently throw up, but by the time she finished hurling, Bai Meiyue was sure that her stomach was about to fall out of her throat.

Annoyed, she poked her belly with her finger. She scolded her son with a teasing glint in her eyes, "Naughty brat, who do you think I am working hard for? If your mommy doesn’t get strong, what will we do when the zombies start running amok? Are you trying to cause trouble for mommy?"
