"Then can you at least call your CEO and tell him something for me? Is that possible?" Bai Meiyue asked. She was not the kind of woman who would plaster her hot face against a cold butt; however, when she thought of Little Cai Cai growing in her belly, she persisted.
For the time being, she was broke with not a single penny in her account. But Lei Qian had enough money, and since he was Bai Cai's father, the least he could do was to provide them with a little security.
"Just a small message?" the receptionist asked.
"That's right," Bai Meiyue nodded, looking really innocent. Seeing that the woman was still hesitating, she clasped her hands together and pretended to be cute. "I am really sorry for putting you in a pinch like this, but I really have to meet with your boss today. No matter what."
The sooner she was done with this meeting, the sooner she would get the money in her bank and start preparing for the doomsday.
The receptionist was Bai Meiyue's fan to begin with, seeing that her idol was pleading with her, how could she resist?
She agreed and asked Bai Meiyue what she wanted to tell Lei Qian.
"Nothing. Just tell him that I am here to take my payment for last night," Bai Meiyue replied.

The receptionist felt something explode inside of her head, the phone receiver in her hand slipped down and she stammered, "The what?"
"The payment," Bai Meiyue repeated as she placed her hands on top of the glass surface of the reception table. "He had tossed me around like that; do I not deserve compensation for all the trouble he put me through?" Bai Meiyue asked sweetly.
What was shame in the face of survival? Only those who have starved for weeks would know that nothing came out of hesitation and feeling ashamed.
Back in the apocalyptic times, women would even open business to sell their bodies in exchange for supplies. Compared to that, this was nothing.
At the same time, on the topmost floor.
"Hello?" Lu Yu said to the person on the other side of the call, he heard what the woman had to say and frowned before turning to look at Lei Qian. "Okay, I will tell him."
"What do you need to tell me?" Lei Qian asked, he was no longer acting childish but had a sharp glint in his eyes.
Seeing him like this, Lu Yu could not help but wonder if Bai Meiyue had given him some kind of tonic. Why did this man start acting like a fool when it came to Bai Meiyue?
"It's nothing," Lu Yu replied. "It seems like you do not need to worry about looking for Miss Bai. She has come to look for you instead."
"Wait a minute," Lei Qian raised his hand and jutted his little pinky out, he used it to clean his ear and then said to Lu Yu, "Now repeat what you said just now."
"Miss Bai is here to meet you," Lu Yu repeated patiently.
Lei Qian stiffened upon hearing his friend's words. He looked left and then right before turning to look at Lu Yu and asked, "How do I look?"
Lu Yu gave a white look at Lei Qian before saying, "Do you even need to ask this? You look handsome as always." In fact, it would be right to say that no word could describe how good Lei Qian looked.
If he were to put on women's clothes, he could even put women to shame.
"I am being serious!" Lei Qian snapped.
"And I am answering you with all the seriousness I can muster," stated Lu Yu with a calm expression. "And do you really want to talk about this when the woman of your dreams is waiting? If you delay, who knows, she might get upset with you and leave?"
That sobered Lei Qian quickly. He had already made the mistake of not reaching out to Miss Bai Meiyue.
Now that she had already come to knock on his doorstep, he needed to tell her that he was willing to take responsibility for her.
This was the only way he could redeem himself in front of her.
