Chapter 448 Cosmic Furnace

Chapter 448 Cosmic Furnace

--

Cedric studied the cosmic furnace spell after Roderika left.

As expected, this spell was complicated. Even with Cedric's astounding comprehension skills, it will take him some time to perform this spell at the entry level. It would take even more time to master it completely, because of course he will master it.

The Cosmic Furnace spell invokes the might and profundity of cosmic laws to act as a furnace to refine one's self. This spell is specially created for those who are about to step into the Transitional Realm.

But of course, the application of this spell isn't solely limited to that. How else could one be expected to practice it to perfection if, with each use, one must cast this spell to themselves?

The Cosmic Furnace spell reminded Cedric a lot of those alchemy or weapon refining techniques. The difference is that the spell is using cosmic laws themselves as tools for refinement.

Thinking about it this way, Cedric could think of many ideas on how to increase his mastery of this spell. And through deduction, he should be able to gauge how effective this will be if applied to himself.

Aside from the information on how to perform the spell, the book Roderika gave him also included several clues about the transitional realm...

The transition of a being's body, mind, and spirit was a necessary process to enter the cosmic level of life evolution. After all, aside from the ancient beings who were born shortly after the birth of the Primeval Scarlet Dust Realm, nobody possesses a vessel that has enough potential to touch the true depths and mysteries of the cosmic origin laws.

Not a single person from the current six leading races had this potential due to the erosion and decline of their bloodline. That's why the Transitional Realm was founded.

In a sense, one's completion of the transitional realm also meant returning to one's roots. But since Cedric was a human, and humans weren't among the ancients, he would be elevating his existence close to the ancients for the small chance of stepping into the cosmic level of life evolution.

Why was there an obsession to step into the cosmic level?

While some people would think that the risk is not worth it. Others would think that it's only natural for risks to be involved. After all, the strength one could reach after they step into the cosmic level is simply too immense. There's no such thing as free lunch, after all.

Some people yearn for it because they want to become the strongest existence there is, become the peak existence, or simply to live for as long as they possibly can. After all, cosmic-level experts can be said to be the strongest, the most knowledgeable, and can live for a very, very long time.

Learning about the difference in culture and physical forms between humans and other races was such an interesting topic for him.

Take, for example, the Space Orges; they're a bunch of muscle creatures that have either green or red skins. Their musculature is at least five times denser than humans, and the minimum height of their adults was six feet tall, not an inch shorter.

Contrary to popular belief, Space Orges aren't dumb. Sure, they're not the sharpest tool in the shed, but that doesn't mean that they're illiterate. This was a misconception brought by their preference for simple things, which leads to the uniqueness of their culture.

Space Ogres emphasizes tradition and simplicity to the point of stagnation. They don't like too many changes unless they're practical or necessary. For example, the skins of Space Ogres are durable enough to endure abuse that would usually kill other creatures. Wounds don't faze them, and they're not shy about displaying their scars because they think it's the mark of a survivor. It's for this reason that they don't wear too much protection, like armor. They go out exposing skin without thinking too much of it.

If it weren't for the rule that prevented them from exposing their genitals in a public space, these people would walk around the market butt naked.

And this was just one of the differences between cultures. There are more waiting to be discovered. Additionally, Godwyn also knew of another race that abhors Space Ogres and their culture because they follow the complete opposite of it. Often resulting in a clash of beliefs.

There's never a boring day in the communal world he's in. And the fact that he's only been in this one when there are still others out there fills him with excitement.

And we haven't even gone to other places yet. His father told him about the Asura Plane but banned him from going to that place, saying that he's not ready for it just yet. There's the combat arena, a place that he frequently visits from time to time. There's also the institute that offers a wealth of knowledge at a certain price, and so much more.

Godwyn's wanderlust is on full display out here, and nobody could judge him for it. Even his father tacitly approved of this quality of his, giving him even more freedom to explore.

Yet, beneath all the excitement of it all, seeing all of this made Godwyn sympathize with what his father felt. He can now understand why he chose to join the alliance and worked so hard to become the governor of Solaris Prime.

Humanity was truly lagging behind. Even the weakest race of the alliance can prove to be a challenging foe for all of humanity. Had Cedric gotten lost or taken too much time, they could've easily been annexed if other races became aware of their existence.

Godwyn grew up listening to how much his father sacrificed for the world, but it was only at this point that he's starting to understand the real weight and immensity of his sacrifices.

Unbeknownst to him, as he continued his exploration of the virtual universe, a seed was starting to sprout within him.

It will take time before he eventually notices this, but when he does, Godwyn will finally realize his dreams and ambitions.
