Chapter 557: Free Thy Potential - Part 2
Right as Amedith slammed one of the monsters to the ground, Asmodia took a step forward and stared at the rush of monsters charging in their direction. Holding spears, swords, pikes and clubs, the greater devils weren’t hindered in the least by the sight of their comrade being felled in a single blow.@@@@
"You’ll know fear," holding her hand forward, the devil of seduction sprayed them with a crimson mist pouring out of her palm. Covering their entire group, the mist confused the devils, and instead of having to fight them directly, Asmodia took hold of their imaginations. "You’re surrounded by enemies, what are you waiting for, tear them apart!"
As her voice echoed down the hall, the monsters saw the faces of their enemies in each other. Although stunned at first, they wasted no time in slamming clubs to heads, slashing each other’s chests with swords, and before long, their eyeballs were bashed out of their skulls, and only a handful of the monsters remained that had barely overpowered the devil’s spell.
Taking a step back, Asmodia grabbed Amedith by the arm and pushed him forward.
"I thinned the herd for your first time, now go and test things out, little birdie~" Chuckling to herself, she joined the rest of the girls standing by the castle’s entrance.
A bit hesitant, Amedith raised his shield and stepped forward to protect them. Enraged by what had happened, a cyclops, a reptilian as tall as a giant, as well as a four-armed beastman of an unknown species, stood before him. Ready to handle their charge, Amedith kept his shield held tight before them, and with the four-armed beastman rushing in his direction, his senses tightened and reminded of Raven’s skills, the magus melted into the charging beast’s shadow and only appeared back when he’d moved past where he’d stood.
"AUGHH!" Conjuring a leash of darkness, the warrior tied the many arms of the beastdevil. But while doing the other two, greater monsters began charging towards him. "CLONE!"
Their assault only ever stopped as the magus had strained his body far too much. Falling to his knees and then unconscious to the ground, Amedith had defeated the charge of monsters, but for his first time using his full potential, it had been far too much for him to handle.
"He did well, better than I expected, at least," letting down the barrier trapping the girls in, Asmodia allowed Liliyana to rush to her lover and heal some of his latent injuries. Having stressed his muscles along with his soul, the magus was spent and the best thing for him to do was to retreat to the shed and let the rest of the party take care of everything else.
"Jeez...he used our powers, it was weird to see something like that happening," rubbing her sides to calm her chills, Aria looked around at everyone while Liliyana was still healing Amedith. "Reminds me of Avarice, or Mono for that matter. Never really a good experience watching someone else mimic the powers you’ve cultivated through years of practice like it’s nothing, is it?"
Although Ameidth hadn’t used her powers, Regalia couldn’t help but agree. Erika felt the same, but with Asmodia taking charge of her body, she couldn’t voice her opinion on the matter.
"At least we can rest assured knowing that no imp or monsters can alert anyone outside about what’s happening in here," turning to face the rest of the party, Asmodia smiled. "Watch the door, and don’t let anyone in. Also, the devil girl should take Amedith back to the shed; I’ll go check on the rest of the group that had gone out front."
Given the situation, everyone agreed to Asmodia’s orders without any dissent. The devil was the strongest of them all, and since the monsters indoors had been handled, it only made sense for her to help with the assassination.
Parting ways with each other, the group separated in three, further diluting their numbers inside the living castle. A mistake or a sound strategy? That remains to be seen...
