Chapter 1004 - 1001: Alone for a Night (Part 1)

"You’ve had too much to drink." Lucas Knight caught a faint scent of red wine on her, along with a unique youthful aroma.Instantly, it triggered a surge of hormones within him.

"I didn’t drink." She lied.

"Really didn’t drink?" His sense of smell was fine, he wasn’t mistaken. He just hoped she’d refrain from drinking like this next time, throwing herself at any man she saw. If she really had to... she’d better fall into his arms.

Perhaps it was because her eyes resembled his little pear, so he felt differently about her?

Even went so far as to be accommodating.

"Let go." He said, "Where do you live? I’ll have someone take you back, okay?"

After all, him being the President, personally sending her was a great honor; a blessing many prayed for but couldn’t receive, understand?

"Ooh, no." She snuggled closer, "I didn’t drink much, just a few glasses. I’ll go home by myself later."

"Then, I’ll leave?" He asked. It seemed as if he was seeking her approval, yet not quite.

"Mm, you can go—"

"Okay." Lucas Knight prepared to step away, but realized that the woman clinging to him not only hadn’t let go, but held him even tighter, showing no intention of releasing him.

If she wouldn’t let go, how could he leave?

Drinking this much, yet claiming not to be drunk!

He was tall, with a robust, solid build.

Even with high heels, she could only wrap her arms around his waist. She clung on tightly, and wouldn’t let go?

"Miss Bennett, if you don’t let go, how am I supposed to leave?" His voice landed coldly.

"Oh." Eva Nightingale paused, lifting her gaze as she broke out in a cold sweat; her lower abdomen hurt. She had a history of painful periods ever since the incident three years ago... every month during her period she felt terribly uncomfortable.

On top of that, traveling for work this time and having a few iced drinks tonight caused trouble.

"Sorry—"

She released him, standing still, blinking as if a bit dizzy.

The abdominal pain earlier led her to hold him tightly, not wanting to let go, as she faintly sensed an alluring scent from him that was soothing and pleasant.

She loved the scent of his hormones.

"You can go now."

She turned around, heading into the lounge.

Tonight’s iced drinks caused her abdominal pain, leading her to sit in the lounge, with no intention of leaving yet.

There was a fight in the banquet hall earlier, unclear if it had stopped, but she simply didn’t want to return.

After assuring he was gone, Eva Nightingale relaxed onto the sofa, discomforted, and took a brief nap.

...

Lucas Knight hadn’t left.

Entering the lounge again, he first noticed she remained unmoved, seemingly feeling unwell.

He turned and left.

He wasn’t keen on excessive contact with women.

Nor did he intend to seek out any woman.

No woman ever truly caught his eye; he wouldn’t even spare them a glance.

*

Eva Nightingale dreamt of herself in an embrace, then lying on a soft bed.

She slept all day.

Upon awakening, she first saw the sparkling crystal chandelier above.

This is...

She sat up, noticing her gown had been changed, and upon further inspection, her sanitary pad seemed freshly replaced as well—goodness, who... who helped her?

Moreover, her hand had a mark from an IV drip.

"Awake?!" Lucas Knight emerged from the bathroom.
