Dragon King's Harem Chapter 311. A Letter From The Lizard King I
For a moment, everything felt still. The kind of stillness that usually happens right before a serious conversation or when something bad’s about to go down. But then, out of nowhere, I found myself chuckling. It was ridiculous, but I couldn't stop it. It wasn’t the time for laughter, especially not with the royal soldiers and a bunch of officials around, but the more I tried to hold it in, the harder it became.
I tried to stifle it, but that little chuckle turned into full-blown laughter, and before I knew it, Evelina and Jyne were laughing too, covering their mouths to keep it quiet. Even Eir, who’s always so composed, cracked a smile, though he quickly hid it. It was just one of those moments, I guess.
Al, standing there, clearly irritated, shot us a look that could’ve burned a hole through the floor. "Right..." he muttered, his voice dripping with sarcasm. I could almost hear the thought running through his mind. ‘You must have done something to them, didn’t you?'
But he quickly recovered, pushing his frustration aside, probably to avoid making things worse. "Tell me what happened, Your Majesty," Al said, the formality back in his voice as he tried to steer the conversation back on track.
I wiped my eyes and cleared my throat, trying to reign in the laughter. “I’ll explain it in my office. This is definitely not the kind of thing we should be talking about here,” I said, waving a hand to signal it was time to get back to the serious stuff.
I unfolded the letter, and the room seemed to hold its breath. I read through it, my mind racing as the contents sank in.
After a moment, I put the letter back on the desk and tried to break the tension. “As I thought, this is about that trip I took last time,” I said casually, trying to downplay it. “There’s nothing to worry about, really.”
Al, clearly still confused, frowned. “Uh... which trip? You barely spent any time in the palace after you woke up from hibernation,” he said, his voice tinged with confusion. It was clear he didn’t quite follow.
