Chapter 1079 - 559: Extra: Those Years, Loving You Madly 2
"Goodnight."Claud turned and disappeared into the car.
Alice’s heart, which had been pounding all along, finally settled down after his car drove away.
Aunt PA excitedly ran up to Alice after seeing the car leave, exclaiming, "Miss, Miss... was that General Laurence?"
Alice gently nodded her head.
Aunt PA, like she was starstruck, said, "He’s really charming... Just looking at him, you can tell he’s the kind who cares deeply, so graceful, such a gentleman, and most importantly, handsome."
Alice, holding Rachel in Aunt PA’s arms, said, "Let’s go home!"
Alice didn’t expect the study light to still be on.
Passing by the study, Alice asked Aunt PA beside her, "Is my brother still awake?"
Aunt PA nodded, "Mr. Robinson ate dinner and has been in the study ever since, hasn’t come out, probably dealing with business matters?"
"Business matters?"
Aunt PA nodded, "Yes, when I passed by the study earlier, I seemed to hear Mr. Robinson on a video call in English, talking about company matters..."
"Oh."
Aunt PA said, "Miss, you were planning to have dinner at home this afternoon, why did you go out later? Mr. Robinson didn’t look too happy during dinner."
Thinking about what he said this afternoon, Alice felt a surge of anger, but then she thought she shouldn’t take his words too seriously.
Since he woke up more than a year ago, his tone when speaking to her has always been like that – every sentence aimed at her, every word sarcastic.
Why should she care so much?
On second thought, he wasn’t wrong; signing a contract does require caution. If a contract goes wrong, the consequences are unimaginable. He’s just focusing on the matters, not the person, and anyway he’s considering the Robinson family.
Alice paused in her steps, "Uh, Aunt PA, take Rachel back to her room."
"Alright."
After Aunt PA left, Alice turned and walked toward the study.
Standing in front of the study, Alice realized the door wasn’t fully closed.
Through the gap, she could see Chester facing the computer, talking to his subordinates.
The matters they mentioned seemed to be all about "QCS"...
Alice leaned against the white wall by the door, watching him carefully through the gap.
It was the first time she saw him handling business.
His expression, his tone when speaking with subordinates, was unexpectedly serious, full of authority.
In the past, when he was still her brother, she didn’t know he was the hidden president behind "QCS," nor that he had confronted Howard Geoffrey and Skyler Jones. She couldn’t imagine that the real him was so cold and deep...
He had always been wearing a mask, but now, this is the real him.
"How much longer are you going to watch?"
A chilling voice startled Alice.
She hadn’t thought he would know she was outside the door; he hadn’t even looked her way.
Alice slowly pushed open the study door and walked in.
Chester had already closed his notebook, matching her gaze with his dark, deep eyes.
Alice averted her gaze from his, murmuring as she lowered her head, "I just saw you were still awake so late..."
Chester stood up and walked straight out of the room.
Seeing he intended to ignore her, Alice followed him out, not speaking another word to him.
In the quiet corridor on the second floor, only their footsteps could be heard.
Alice deliberately kept a distance from him, afraid he might suddenly stop.
Unexpectedly, his footsteps did suddenly stop.
Luckily, Alice didn’t bump into him.
"Come here."
His voice was as commanding as it was when ordering subordinates earlier.
Alice hesitantly asked, "What... do you want?"
Seemingly impatient, Chester stepped forward and grasped her wrist.
"What the heck..."
Chester was already dragging Alice toward his room.
"Let go of me, let go..."
The door was kicked open, and Chester pulled the struggling Alice into the room.
With his ankle, Chester forcefully shut the door.
"You’re hurting me..."
Alice struggled against Chester’s grip; the pain wrinkled her beautiful face.
Chester finally released Alice with a vengeance, looking coldly at her.
In the unilluminated room, relying only on the dim light cast from the garden outside the floor-to-ceiling window, Alice saw Chester’s face was terribly cold.
His dark eyes glared at her, like two swords.
Alice rubbed her painful wrist, complaining in grievance, "What do you want... ah..."
