Chapter 487: Unexpected Visitors
"Is that... is that a Dragon...?" Aaron muttered, his mouth hanging open at the sight.
"Shit! If it decides to unleash an attack, half of us here would die. The professors can’t protect all of us at once!" Aaron suddenly realized.
Leo immediately looked around and saw no professor in sight, which meant there was no mortal danger significant enough to warrant their presence. That could only mean the dragon wasn’t here to cause chaos.
He calmed down his nerves and carefully observed the situation.
As the huge shadow descended--nearly 30 meters long from head to tail, with a 50-meter wingspan--they finally saw the figure clearly, the crevices in its scaly hide faintly glowing yellow.
It had a thick, fleshy yellow membrane stretched across the bone structure of its wings. Its face was what a real dragon should look like, with straight, slick-backed, yellow-tipped horns, while its dangerous slit eyes had yellow corneas, black irises, and bright yellow pupils.

When it came within a certain range, Leo’s system prompt flared.
Zerathra [Yellow Flame Dragon - Female] (Pseudo 6-star) - Noble Bloodline [Intelligent - Adult]
>Note: Any beast above the intelligence threshold of a juvenile cannot be tamed through normal means.
Right now, Leo had no time to linger on the system notification. He was completely captivated by the magnificent sight of the first dragon he had ever seen across both his lives.
Even though he could feel the crushing pressure of the Dragon’s presence bearing down on his body, he remained standing, unlike many others.
Apparently, only the top 7 academy students and the Ember Family were still upright--likely the work of hidden professors--while everyone else had already collapsed onto the ground, unable to withstand the sheer presence of the dragon.
The weaker ones were even foaming at the mouth, while a few normal and 1-star individuals had already fallen unconscious.
"Lady Zerathra!" Suddenly, a bold voice rang out from a distance, prompting the descending dragon to slightly turn its head.
There, a man with exceptionally brilliant, long, flowing red hair floated through the sky.
"Please be considerate of others and retract your noble pressure. Many have already fainted, and some might even die!"
Leo actually saw the dragon proudly snort through its nose before the pressure around them gradually lessened.
Swoosh! Bam!
The dragon landed gracefully on the ground, blasting away dust and debris that made many people rub their eyes and turn away.
"Ashton." The Dragon spoke in an uncharacteristically bold yet feminine voice befitting a dragon.
"I never knew you allowed these weak humans... to explore one of the Flame Dragons’ domains." Leo felt the dragon’s attention briefly fall on him--or rather, on Naelith and Lyswenna--before it shifted away again.
It was then that Leo noticed 3 individuals standing atop the dragon’s back, silently surveying the surroundings.
Pyrotrax [Red Flame Dragon] (Low 4-star) - Super Bloodline [Intelligence - Adolescent]
Ignivorax [Red Flame Dragon] (Low 4-star) - Super Bloodline [Intelligence - Adolescent]
Vulcarion [Flame Dragon] (Mid 4-star) - Noble Bloodline [Intelligence - Adolescent]
Leo frowned.
Dragons? he thought. Even though the system clearly identified them as Dragons, they possessed humanoid forms. Sure, they had horns and patches of scaly skin, but they looked far more human than beasts like Zerathra. Dragonnewts or Dragonkin would have suited them better.
But his confusion was resolved the very next moment.
All 3 humanoid figures jumped down, and Zerathra’s enormous form began shrinking smaller and smaller. At one point, yellow flames engulfed the area around her, and the next instant, a breathtaking beauty stepped out from within the fire.
Kid, watch closely. That’s what a proper dragon can do. Suddenly, Gunther’s voice echoed in Leo’s head.
So the old geezer followed me even here... Leo thought before focusing back on the scene.
Zerathra’s humanoid form possessed breathtaking beauty, with smooth, pale skin, long, obsidian-black hair slicked back, yellow-tipped horns jutting from her forehead, and piercing golden slit eyes that carried draconic majesty.
A bold yellow dress hugged her graceful hourglass figure elegantly, shimmering like molten sunlight, while her every movement radiated both regal charm and the terrifying aura of a strength that a dragon should.
She opened her fan-like instrument with a flick and covered her mouth as she giggled.
"Kukuku, Ashton, you told me to be considerate of them, but the way they keep staring at my body doesn’t seem very considerate."
"Aunt Zera, if you allow me, I can make them considerate of you." Pyrotrax cracked his knuckles with a wide grin, scanning the surroundings as if selecting prey.
"Haha, Trax! They’re so weak! I thought only the humans on the outskirts were pathetic, but what’s this? Even in an inner-city area, is this low? Hahahaha!" Vulcarion laughed mockingly.
"What is that slave, Hidimba, even doing? Even with his inferior strength, he should’ve easily razed this place."
After hearing them, the atmosphere became unnaturally tense. Ronan ground his teeth loudly enough to be audible. Even Vulcan, standing at a distance, tightened his grip on his mace, veins bulging across his forearms.
The dragon named Ignivorax seemed to notice Vulcan’s anger.
"What? You gonna do something? Go ahead. Let’s see how long it takes before you meet your maker. Hahaha."
Leo simply narrowed his eyes. If dragons were known for pride, then this was arrogance taken far beyond reason.
"Kukuku, forgive my nephews, Ashton. Their way of expressing surprise is a little different."
Count Ashton could only grit his teeth and let the matter slide. He couldn’t afford to provoke Zerathra.
If not for the Emperor’s orders, I would’ve never opened the city gates for these living campfires burning with pride.
Still, Ashton maintained a welcoming expression outwardly as he turned around to introduce them to the others.
"I sincerely apologize for being late in welcoming you all. As you can see, we were expecting some important guests from the newly formed Empire--the Sunborn Empire!"
"I believe I need not explain what it is, but for those unaware, it is a land and sky ruled entirely by Dragons--one of the noblest beings in this world!"
Leo could practically feel how difficult it was for the Count to call dragons one of the noblest beings in the world, but he had no choice in Zerathra’s presence.
Zerathra herself could tell just how much the Count loathed saying those words, yet instead of anger, she only felt pleasure.
After all, he could not oppose her no matter how much he wanted to.
That alone filled her with satisfaction.
Afterwards, the Count proceeded with the remainder of the welcoming. As his speech came to an end, he spoke of safety measures.
"Now! I know many of you may be worried about dying inside the realm. But rest assured, I will have my powerful men exploring the realm as well, aiding in survival whenever possible. So all you need to do is make sure you don’t die instantly. If you can survive long enough to fire a signal, my men will come running to rescue you!"
Hearing the Count’s words, the dragons quietly started laughing among themselves.
