Chapter 102 A Powerful Observer
Snape's gaze swept across their faces.
He saw those emerald green eyes staring blankly at him.
Snape remembered the news he had just received in the headmaster's office: Quirrell was going to make his move tonight, and the castle would undoubtedly be dangerous at night!
"Potter..." Snape's voice was hoarse and low, with an extremely awkward tone, as if he were forcing himself to speak, "You need to be careful. Don't wander around the castle like this; people will think you're up to something bad. Gryffindor can't afford to lose points again, can it?"
When Snape mentioned losing points, Harry was reminded of the 150 points Gryffindor lost because of him, and the House Cup that followed.
His face flushed red, and together with Ron and Hermione, he managed a weak bow to Snape before preparing to leave.
But Snape called them back: "Just a heads-up, Potter—if you're out wandering around in the middle of the night again, I'll personally fire you!"
After saying that, he strode up the steps leading to the underground and went back to his potions office.
Harry and his two companions arrived at the steps outside the castle.
He turned to Ron and Hermione: "You heard what he said, right? I think he's going to make his move tonight! We have to stop him!"
"But what are we going to do?" Ron scratched his fiery red hair. "We're no match for him."
"We can get our hands on the Philosopher's Stone first!" Harry's eyes lit up as he came up with an idea.
"You're insane!" Ron said.
"You'll be expelled!" Hermione exclaimed, her eyes wide. "Didn't you hear what Professor McGonagall and Snape were saying?"
But Harry was determined. He persuaded Ron and Hermione, and they decided to act that night after their classmates had fallen asleep.
It was evening.
While Harry and his two friends were still anxiously waiting in the common room.
Outside the corridor on the fourth floor of the castle, a figure had already quietly appeared—it was Quirrell.
Quirrell held his wand, his large head, encased in a coin, darting around, alerting every possible hiding spot.
Finally, he arrived safely at the door that separated the three-headed dog from the school.
It's a pity Snape didn't show up this time, otherwise I would have definitely given him a surprise!
Quirrell thought to himself.
But then, he focused his attention on what was in front of him—himself and his master had spent the past year lying in wait, all for the magic stone hidden here! It couldn't be lost!
Quirrell pushed open the wooden door and went inside.
A little while later, Harry and his two companions arrived, wearing invisibility cloaks.
When they saw that the door was already ajar, they immediately realized they were too late.
The plan to get the Philosopher's Stone before Snape was put into action failed as soon as it began.
The three of them exchanged a glance, and a sense of mission welled up in their hearts that only they could stop Snape.
Harry pushed open the wooden door, followed closely by Ron and Hermione, and the three of them resolutely stepped into the room.
"madness!"
A brief conclusion came from Lynch's mouth.
At this moment, he was sitting in a secluded room, next to Dumbledore, who had left Hogwarts openly and then quietly returned.
Before them, the walls of the room seemed to melt into a flowing curtain of water.
The water curtain split in two, with one half clearly reflecting the actions of Harry and his two companions.
The other half focuses on Quirrell, who is now in the last room.
At this moment, inside Hogwarts Castle, Dumbledore, with the authority of the headmaster, completely concealed the fluctuations of the detection magic before him, so that even Voldemort could not detect anything amiss.
This also allows the two of them to sit here safely and watch Voldemort and Harry's every move.
"I think it's admirable courage."
Dumbledore stroked his long, silvery beard, a hint of satisfaction flashing in his eyes: "Knowing that your chances of winning are slim, yet still having the courage to take that step forward, is a very precious quality."
Lynch's gaze was fixed on the water curtain, watching Harry and his two companions descend from the height onto the Devil's Web, and he replied, "The quality you speak of is indeed extremely precious, but that's based on having no other choice."
"At this moment, the three of them are not forced into a desperate situation."
"Now that it's confirmed that someone has broken into the barrier guarding the Philosopher's Stone, they can choose to seek help from the professors. No professor would refuse their request at this time; at the very least, they would come and take a look. By then, the news that the thief has broken in would naturally be relayed to the person in charge."
"If they are worried about wasting time searching for the professor, they can choose to stay put and make a big commotion. Although Mr. Filch is hostile and prejudiced against the young wizards, he is a dutiful administrator and will promptly notify the person who can handle the situation."
"With so many options available, the three of them choosing to blindly follow along was undoubtedly the most foolish decision!"
"Even if the enemy they faced was their imagined Snape, instead of Voldemort, it was still far beyond their ability to handle."
"This behavior is not much different from courting death."
Dumbledore glanced at Lynch: "But sometimes, we need this kind of almost foolish courage, the willingness to try and put it into action, rather than all daydreaming."
Lynch did not respond to Dumbledore; his gaze remained fixed on the water curtain.
On the water screen, the life-or-death game between Harry, Ron, and Hermione on a giant chessboard has reached its final moment. Ron, as a knight, sacrifices himself to send Harry and Hermione to the next level.
Watching Hermione quickly solve Snape's riddle, Harry brought the potion to his lips.
Lynch asked, "Is this the potion you had Snape concoct beforehand?"
"Yes," Dumbledore nodded. "Mr. Potter and Voldemort both drank the potion, and their connection will be severed in both directions, so Harry will no longer have the same strong reaction as in the Forbidden Forest."
Lynch and Dumbledore watched the water curtain, and saw Hermione's lips trembling as she reached out and hugged Harry, cheering him on.
"The simple friendship between young people is always touching."
Dumbledore remarked.
"It has begun." Lin Qi's voice was low and calm.
With his words, Harry drank the potion, passed through the black flames, and entered the final room.
He opened his eyes and saw the intruder who had preceded him.
To Harry's great surprise, the person was not Snape as he had expected—but Professor Quirrell, whom he had always thought had mustered the courage to confront Snape!
Lynch stood up from his chair, his eyes fixed on Quirrell in the water curtain, or rather, Voldemort behind Quirrell's head.
If he senses anything amiss, he will instantly appear in the next room.
