Chapter 93: The War Begins!
Chapter 93: The War Begins!
The scene was completely silent; even the rustling of the wind through the leaves could be clearly heard.
Elder Chalasu shook his head, staring intently at the young man before him, and was the first to refuse.
Sofia and Wilson didn't need to say much; their actions spoke volumes. One drew a dagger from her waist, and the other drew two swords from his back.
"Brother Simon, my team and I want to get from the third level of the Chaos Cauldron to the fourth level. I need a large drilling rig and the corresponding steam transport equipment. If you can provide these, I'll be happy to cooperate with you." The Imperial Adventurer was quite frank.
"I'm sorry, I'm dirt poor right now and can't give you anything," Simon replied. "I promise I'll share these things with you after we take care of Carl."
The Imperial Adventurer's enormous helmet swayed.
"I like your idea, but... the seeds of an ideal need the soil of reality to grow. You only have an empty promise. I can't take my team and you on this risk."
Things seemed to have returned to their original state, with Karl possessing a steam-armored legion and countless clockwork mechanical hounds.
Simon only had a harpoon.
But now, he's decided to use this harpoon to turn the entire second floor upside down!
"Stop spouting nonsense like a dog barking!" Sofia, already in a terrible mood, roared. "Do you think we'd be stupid enough to go and die with you?"
"Speaking of dogs, I think you're far more like Karl's loyal hounds than I am," Simon said, his words as sharp as ever. "But no matter how much you wag your tails, you won't get a single piece of Karl's flesh. He'll just treat you as expendable resources, using you at will. Didn't you just see that?"
That wasn't all. He stared into Sophia's bloodshot eyes and asked the most crucial question.
"That young man Karl killed, he died a painful death. Don't you feel even a sliver of guilt or remorse?"
"Shut up!"
Sofia took off her robe, revealing her mechanical arms on her back once more. The left mechanical arm had clearly been repaired and looked tattered.
Elder Chalasu clasped his hands together and closed his eyes.
"I commend your bravery, but as the patriarch of my clan, I must prioritize the greater good and eliminate you here."
As he spoke, he took the glass jar off his body and handed it to his son and grandson.
"Take the glass jar and run as far away as possible!" Charasu urged his son and grandson with a serious expression. "No matter what happens, don't come back to me."
"Grandpa, what are you talking about? Why don't we all rush in and knock that madman with the harpoon down?"
Lin Ying's self-righteous remark was interrupted by Chalasu's angry roar.
"Get out of here! Now!"
Lin Ying dared not slack off, grabbed the glass jar, and hurriedly fled with his father.
Elder Chalasu looked at Simon, only after truly fighting him did he realize how terrifying this man was.
His physical abilities and strength far surpass those of ordinary people. He is currently unable to use his spiritual energy, and in a fight based solely on physical combat, the elderly man may not be a match for the younger man.
The other two factions are also following his lead in making arrangements. Wilson handed the glass jar to his subordinates, while the Imperial adventurer handed a large jar full of scorpion bees to a blonde girl, telling her to run far away. They have no intention of fighting amongst themselves now, and only want to deal with Simon first.
Simon then took the birdcage off his backpack and handed it to Professor Loris.
"Brenne will help you find Flannery, and she will take you to a safe place."
"Oh, Simon, you're really putting my old bones through this," Professor Loris said, but he did as he was told.
Brienne bid Simon a reluctant farewell: "Remember to tell me your stories when you come back."
As unrelated personnel gradually left the scene, the group prepared for battle.
The Imperial Adventurer drew a strangely shaped pistol from his waist: "Let me make it clear beforehand, I'm not good at fighting, I can only help you hold him off."
Elder Chalasu assumed a fighting stance; even without using psionic energy, his powerful physique still allowed him to unleash formidable combat techniques.
Wilson didn't draw his sniper rifle; the distance was too close, so the fight transitioned directly to close-quarters combat.
hiss--
The Imperial Adventurer was the first to make a move. He aimed at Simon's legs and pulled the trigger. The strange pistol shot out a grappling hook that wrapped around Simon's legs.
Charasu charged forward like a chariot, swinging his fists wildly. Simon was caught off guard and his legs were locked. In desperation, he immediately fell backward, barely dodging the two punches at the last second. At the same time, he pulled the trigger and fired a steel crossbow bolt.
The crossbow bolt pierced Charasu's arms, but his pale arms were as hard as rocks. Charasu raised his arms without changing his expression and then brought them down fiercely!
The ground trembled, and Simon, who had fallen to the ground, was nearly crushed in the head by the blow.
That was close...
He slowly exerted force with his legs, tightening the ropes binding them, and then swung the harpoon to cut the ropes.
Charasu clenched his fist again and slammed it down on Simon's head, but Simon wouldn't give him another chance. He seized the opportunity and kicked Charasu in the stomach!
The blow to his stomach caused Chalasu to vomit a mouthful of acid and he had to take a step back.
The two cave raiders attacked one after the other, but Charasu's body was too strong, so the two could only bypass Charasu to attack him.
But Simon had long since caught wind of their movements and was already prepared.
Wilson had barely taken a step when Simon's harpoon slashed down and pierced deeply into the sole of his foot!
Sofia attacked from another direction, but before she could even swing her dagger, Simon drew his harpoon and delivered an upward slash that nearly cleaved her in two.
Simon's face instantly turned pale. Although she had dodged the attack, Sophia was ashen-faced and dared not go any further. Her terrified appearance did not seem like someone who had fought her way out of a mountain of corpses. After thinking about it carefully, Simon felt that her movements seemed a bit off.
Simon keenly noticed something odd: Sophia's parries always prioritized blocking her abdomen.
Could it be that……
"What are you waiting for?" Wilson roared, enduring the excruciating pain in his foot, and hurled his long knife at Simon, who was standing right in front of him!
Simon reacted extremely quickly, raising his harpoon to parry as he anticipated the throwing motion. With a crisp sound, the thrown longsword collided with the harpoon and instantly deflected, flying towards Elder Chalasu. The elderly man immediately raised his arms to defend, sparks flying, and the longsword deflected once again.

The longsword, once again deflected at an angle, flew to the right, and the person standing to Elder Chalasu's right...
Sophia made the same move again, but the longsword missed her and struck the Imperial Adventurer behind her instead.
The long sword pierced his enormous helmet, penetrating right through the glass and leaving fine, spiderweb-like cracks on the helmet.
Under the watchful eyes of the crowd, his body collapsed with a thud.
