Chapter 21 What are you hiding?
Chapter 21 What are you hiding?
Chu Sheng was still trying to explain: "Aunt Gu, I might have something to do this morning..."
Gu Yanru raised an eyebrow slightly: "What is it?"
"I...I want to go buy some school supplies."
"We have everything at home," Gu Yanru said calmly. "Pen, notebook, folder, bookmarks, and sticky notes are all available. If you need anything, Auntie can have someone bring it over."
Chu Sheng immediately changed tactics: "I want to get to know Haicheng better."
"I'll help you get acquainted with the place this afternoon."
I want to go to school.
"The school hasn't opened yet."
"I want to work out."
Gu Yanru looked at his thin arms and legs: "When you come back, Auntie will get you a gym membership."
Chu Sheng was utterly defeated.
Gu Yanru stood up: "Go change your clothes. Yunyi is free this morning, let's go over now."
"Yunyi?"
"Xie Yunyi is a friend of mine for many years," Gu Yanru said. "You can just call her Dr. Xie. She's a very nice person, don't be nervous."
Half an hour later, the silver Jaguar drove off Junhai Road.
Gu Yanru drove very steadily. Today she wore a more formal outfit: a dark green shirt paired with a black skirt, the waistline of which was very cinched.
The car was quiet. Chu Sheng sat in the passenger seat, wanting to explain several times, but the words wouldn't come out.
He couldn't very well say, "Aunt Gu, you've misunderstood. I wasn't watching short videos last night; I was researching how to become a virtual streamer."
This isn't much better than the former, and if you keep asking, it will bring up magical girls.
Upon arriving in the city center, Gu Yanru drove into a quiet commercial medical park. Unlike ordinary hospitals, this place wasn't crowded with people; the glass exterior was spotless, and there were staff in suits at the entrance to guide parking.
Chu Sheng looked up at the sign: Baiyun Mental Health Center.
The elevator went all the way up to the twelfth floor. When the doors opened, a lobby that didn't look like a hospital at all came into view.
Solid wood floors, genuine leather sofas, abstract paintings on the walls, and a row of green plants in the corner. The receptionist speaks softly, and there's only a faint fragrance in the air.
Chu Sheng walked in with a stiff face, immediately recognizing that this place was definitely not cheap. He felt that every breath he took was a waste of Gu Yanru's money.
The receptionist greeted Gu Yanru with a polite smile: "Professor Gu, Dr. Xie is waiting for you in his office."
Gu Yanru nodded: "Thank you for your help."
Chu Sheng followed her inside. At the end of the corridor was a private office; the door wasn't closed properly, and a woman's lazy voice came from inside.
"Professor Gu, since you're already here, why are you knocking?"
Gu Yanru rarely showed a hint of helplessness: "Yunyi."
She pushed the door open and went in. Chu Sheng followed behind, and was slightly taken aback when he looked up.
A woman sat in the office. She wore a white lab coat, had long, chestnut-brown curly hair, and gold-rimmed glasses, twirling a black pen in her hand.
She wore her white lab coat loosely, revealing a thin, soft, misty gray knit sweater underneath. The knit fabric clung to her body, its weight stretched taut by her exaggeratedly full breasts, pushing the lab coat high up and bearing a burden it shouldn't have to carry at her age.
She sat behind her desk, her waist cinched narrow in a black bodycon dress that draped over her full hips. Her legs were crossed under the desk, their shapely curves and long, slender lines accentuated by matte black stockings. Black stilettos tapped rhythmically on her toes.
This woman looks to be the same age as Gu Yan, but she is a completely different type.
Gu Yanru is like a pot of warm tea, dignified, refined, and elegant; Xie Yunyi is like a glass of strong liquor with ice, refreshing to drink, but you only know how formidable she is after you taste it.
Chu Sheng subconsciously swallowed.
Xie Yunyi's gaze fell on Chu Sheng, her beautiful but somewhat sharp eyebrows twitched slightly, and the corners of her mouth turned up.
"Oh." She took off her glasses. "This is your illegitimate child whom you've kept hidden for eighteen years?"
Gu Yanru glared at her, annoyed. "Xie Yunyi."
Xie Yunyi, however, seemed not to notice Gu Yanru's gaze, and got up to walk around the desk.
She was very tall. As he got closer, Chu Sheng realized that her figure under her white coat was surprisingly voluptuous. With each step, her knitwear swayed precariously, and her slender waist twisted slightly in a seductive way as she walked, swaying gracefully.
Xie Yunyi stopped in front of Chu Sheng and leaned down slightly to look him over.
Chu Sheng quickly shifted his gaze to the business license on the wall next to him.
That business license is huge!
So professional, really so professional!
Xie Yunyi noticed his ears were turning red and her smile deepened: "The young man is quite handsome. Yanru, are you sure he's not yours? His eyebrows and eyes look a bit like yours when you were young."
Gu Yanru said coldly, "Xie Yunyi, watch your words."
Chu Sheng coughed awkwardly: "Hello, Dr. Xie, my name is Chu Sheng."
"Chu Sheng," Xie Yunyi read his name aloud, "Your name sounds strange. Sit down, don't stand."
"You sit down too," Xie Yunyi said with a smile as she walked to the tea table. "From the moment you walked in until now, you've been frowning almost as often as you did when you were young. Gu Yanru, you're such a boring woman."
Gu Yanru was somewhat helpless at her words: "Xiao Chu is still here."
"Just listen if you're here." Xie Yunyi poured two glasses of warm water and got Chu Sheng a bottle of iced cola separately. "Let young people know in advance that adults aren't exactly respectable creatures either, so they won't have too many illusions about life."
Chu Sheng quickly took the iced cola: "Thank you, Doctor Xie."
"Don't be so nervous." Xie Yunyi sat down on the single sofa opposite him, her black dress clinging to her plump thighs. "I'm not going to eat people."
Gu Yanru sat next to Chu Sheng and briefly explained the situation.
Of course, she phrased it very tactfully.
The reasons given included: "Xiao Chu just arrived in Haicheng and may not be used to it yet," "He has some insomnia at night," "He has a tendency to become addicted to unhealthy online content," and "I'm worried that his stress management methods aren't very good."
Chu Sheng felt increasingly like he wanted to disappear into the ground as he listened, his face turning bright red.
As Xie Yunyi listened, her eyes darted back and forth between Chu Sheng and Gu Yanru, occasionally letting out an "hmm" while her pen gently scribbled something in her notebook.
After Gu Yanru finished speaking, Xie Yunyi suddenly asked, "Who is he to you?"
Gu Yanru was taken aback: "My friend's child."
"Staying at your place?"
"Um."
"You interfere with his sleep schedule, diet, reading notes, and even what videos he watches?"
Gu Yanru frowned slightly: "Since Sister Xiaoli entrusted him to me, of course I have to take responsibility."
Xie Yunyi rested her chin on her hand, her smile enigmatic: "How responsible?"
Gu Yanru's voice was slightly deep, and his expression was not pleasant: "Yunyi."
Xie Yunyi raised her hands: "Okay, okay, okay."
She turned to look at Chu Sheng, her gaze softening slightly: "Chu Sheng, right? Your Aunt Gu just said a lot, but those were all her observations. When it comes to psychological counseling, it's useless for others to say too much; you still have to hear what you have to say yourself."
Chu Sheng weakly raised his hand: "I actually don't have any major problems."
"Whether there's a problem or not isn't up to you to decide," Xie Yunyi smiled. "Don't worry, I don't like to scare people. Just treat me as a friend you can talk to."
As she spoke, her gaze shifted to Gu Yanru: "Professor Gu, would you please wait outside for a moment?"
Gu Yanru instinctively looked at Chu Sheng: "Can't I just listen in?"
"No," Xie Yunyi answered decisively. "He's eighteen years old and has his own privacy. If you sit here, he has to read your expression before he can say anything. How can we continue this consultation?"
Gu Yanru hesitated for a moment.
Xie Yunyi looked up at her: "What, are you afraid I'll eat him up?"
Gu Yanru finally stood up. She looked at Chu Sheng and said softly, "Xiao Chu, don't be nervous. Just say what you want to say. Auntie will wait for you outside."
Chu Sheng could only nod obediently, "Okay, Aunt Gu."
Gu Yanru walked to the door, then turned back for one last worry. Xie Yunyi had already put her gold-rimmed glasses back on and waved to her with a smile: "Go on, go on, this is the first lesson a mother can teach her child to let go."
Gu Yanru blushed, and the door was gently closed.
Xie Yunyi slowly opened the notebook, her pen pausing on the paper. She looked up at Chu Sheng, her red lips curving slightly.
"Alright, little one. Now you can tell Auntie, what are you hiding?"
