Chapter 58 Dog Brother's Encounter
Chapter 58 Dog Brother's Encounter
In the Kingdom Forest at noon, the bright sun shines through the gaps in the leaves, casting dappled shadows.
The air was dry and cold, rubbing against the little goblin's throat like sand.
"Huff... Hah... Huff..."
The goblin scurried frantically through the forest, its footsteps rustling rapidly on the leaves.
His figure disappeared through the dense forest, and ten seconds later, a giant hyena sped off after him.
"Help...help me!"
The little goblin turned to look at the rapidly approaching predator, its eyes filled with despair, and a nauseating taste of blood rising from its throat.
With only a dozen steps to go, the giant hyena suddenly darted to one side of the dense forest, crushing the bushes and weaving between the tree trunks, driving the little goblin to the side of the jungle.
The goblin, in its panic, stumbled into the bushes, tumbling and crawling until it made its way to a clearing in the middle of the woods.
There was a huge boulder protruding from the clearing. The little goblin was trying to go around the boulder when suddenly a dark shadow appeared in front of him!
The giant hyena had somehow circled behind the boulder and blocked the goblin's path.
"Magnubbie's ass!" the little goblin exclaimed, slamming on the brakes and turning to run away.
The giant hyena didn't chase after it, but just watched the little goblin's back and chuckled, the bone collar around its neck rattling loudly.
"Bone" is its nickname. It is one of the four giant hyenas kept by Boss Bear.
The goblin ran breathlessly to the edge of the clearing, looked up, and almost fainted.
A gaping maw opened in the shadows of the woodland, and another giant hyena strolled leisurely out of the bushes, a horrifying scar on its mouth.
Its name is "Scar." This guy bit the bear boss while playing around, and the bear boss got angry and tore open the dog's cheek, leaving a scar—the bear goblin's strength is truly amazing.
Two giant hyenas flanked the goblin, circling him as if toying with him, chuckling as they went. The little goblin's heart nearly jumped out of his throat; he retreated while wetting his pants, until he was forced to the foot of the boulder.
There is no way to retreat.
The two giant hyenas slowly approached, and the goblin turned and started climbing the boulder, using both hands and feet. He had only climbed a little over a meter high when Scar grabbed him by the rump and dragged him to the ground.
"Don't eat me...don't eat me! Magnubie, above!"
The goblin cried and wailed, snot and tears streaming down its face, but Scar completely ignored it. Its foul-smelling saliva dripped from the corner of its mouth, covering the goblin's face.
Just as Scar was about to take a bite, it suddenly let out an angry howl—Bone bumped into it, shoving it aside.
"Ouch!" "Ugh!"
Two hyenas were baring their teeth and fighting endlessly over prey.
The poor goblin had given up resisting, closed its eyes, and prayed that it would all end soon...
Just then—a sharp whistle pierced the air.
The two hyenas' attention immediately shifted to the source of the whistle—at the edge of the woodland, in the bushes, a bear skull had appeared out of nowhere.
The two giant hyenas looked curiously in the direction of the skull. "Bone" let out a soft growl, as if communicating with its companion.
Scarface blew a whistle and walked toward the bear skull, while Bones remained where it was, guarding its prey.
Scar walked to the front of the bushes and looked at the skull floating in them—it wrinkled its nose, sniffed, and tilted its head in confusion.
The giant hyena bit into the bear skull, and snapped!
Teeth clashed against teeth, the hyena's mouth pierced through the image of the bear skull, biting into nothing!
Almost instantly, seven or eight arrows shot out from all directions at the same time, like venomous snakes flicking their tongues, whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!
In an instant, "Scarface" was turned into a hedgehog!
"Awooo!!!" The giant hyena writhed in pain, instinctively taking a step back. Just as it landed, before it could react—
"call!"
A streak of fire shot through the woods and struck Scarface squarely in the face!
The hyena's entire face was instantly charred. The fire and pain terrified it, and the dazzling flames blinded it. Scar frantically tore at the air, struggling and jumping around.
"Spear!"
From the bushes, Gebu shouted! He popped his head out, raised his arm, and a chorus of battle cries erupted from the tall grass.
"Oh!!"
"Charge!!"
"Stab his mother!!"
Nine little green guys rushed out of the jungle, carrying simple spears and shouting incoherent slogans to embolden themselves.
They quickly formed a circle around the hyena, without getting close, and began stabbing wildly at the blind "Scarface" from the edge of the spear's reach!
The giant hyena was already panicked. When the goblins poked it, it didn't know where to hide and rushed around aimlessly, blindly crashing into the spear tips. Within seconds, it was bleeding profusely.
The giant hyena "Bone," waiting behind, saw its companion being attacked and anxiously let out a piercing howl.
It turned its head to stare at its terrified prey, then looked at "Scar," who was in a predicament.
The giant hyena's eyes quickly scanned the area, and behind the group of goblins carrying spears, its canine eyes fixed on Gebu, who was wearing a fur robe and had no weapon in his hand!
-----------------
Gebu stood in the woods, watching from a distance as his team fought "Scar."
They were locked in a stalemate with the hyenas, looking for an opportunity to stab them in the back.
The hyena's face was charred black, and it could see nothing, so it could only rage helplessly.
Goblins are timid, and no one dares to get too close, which actually avoids casualties.
No matter how powerful the dog is, it can only bite through a few spears; it can't hurt anyone. If it tries to charge in one direction, it will immediately be pierced back by the spears.
These spear-wielding goblins were thin and small, and would normally be no match for the giant hyenas, who were many times their size.
If they get separated and caught by hyenas, they'll be crunched up one by one.
Therefore, we must rely on cooperation and ambushes!
This was a pure skirmish: Gebu never expected to be so close to the Broken Tooth tribe so soon.
Gebu and his group were traveling through the forest—they still had a whole day's journey to complete before returning to their tribe.
The scout ahead spotted something amiss from afar—two giant hyenas were chasing an unfortunate little goblin. They were only minutes away!
A golden opportunity!
Those four giant hyenas were Xiong Laoda's treasures, and Gebu was still figuring out how to deal with them—when two of them came knocking on his door!
Gebu quickly deployed his troops and set up a temporary trap.
But why did these two run outside the camp on their own? Did Boss Bear send them out?
Something's not right...
With the situation under control on Scar's side, Geb quickly turned his attention to the other side of the woods, towards "Bone".
The other hyena is to be handed over... but what about the other hyena?!
Gebu panicked and quickly turned his head to look for "Bone"—the guy had disappeared in the blink of an eye; had he run away?
No, hyenas are cunning animals—it's hiding!
The goblin wizard looked around, his attention immediately shifting from Scar and the goblins to his own side—the bones were nearby, and his target was himself.
Splash!
A scraping sound came from the side of the jungle—it was the necklace around "Bone's" neck.
Because this hyena was too cunning and always looked for opportunities to ambush the bear boss, it once almost bit through her neck—in order to be able to spot it in time, the bear boss put this necklace on the creature.
The chain rattles when the dog moves.
Gebu clearly remembered the voice. Back when he was shoveling manure in the animal pen, the voice was like a ghost, always following him on the other side of the fence.
Goosebumps
The invisible threat is more terrifying than the visible one.
Splash!
Behind your head!
Gebu turned his head 180 degrees, nearly snapping his neck—the bushes in front of him were like a kaleidoscope, making it impossible to distinguish between trees, grass, ground, and even dogs for a moment…
Wait a minute, a dog?
Splash! Splash! Splash!
He narrowed his eyes, the hyena's spotted pattern blending into the dappled shadows of the trees—by the time Geb reacted, "Bone" had already leaped forward, its bloody jaws viciously biting at the goblin's neck!
