Revelation of the Way of Heaven

Chapter 233 Alim

Chapter 233 Alim

As the two walked down the stairs from the rooftop to the second floor, they happened to see an acquaintance.

"So you're here. That's why I couldn't find you." Han Kexin was standing by the railing looking into the yard when she heard footsteps. She turned around and saw the two of them. She was wearing a purple dress, sunglasses, and a brown sun hat.

"Sister Kexin." A look of joy flashed in Guo Shiyi's eyes as she quickly walked to her side, took her arm, and said, "I didn't expect you to come too."

Han Kexin glanced at her, patted her head, and said, "Of course I won't ignore your situation."

"Thank you, Sister Kexin." She nodded obediently, then asked, "Did you come alone, Sister Kexin? Didn't Brother Zhou come with you?"

"He went to gather intelligence in the neighborhood. Besides the two of us, Xiaoying and Feifei were also there."

"Oh, that's great! Where is she?" Guo Shiyi asked.

"She's playing with other children in the yard," Han Kexin said, pointing to the yard.

"She's not afraid of the heat in this sweltering weather," Qin Xiaochuan said.

"Kids don't care about anything once they start playing."

Upon hearing this, Qin Xiaochuan looked into the courtyard and indeed saw Xiaoying wearing a sun hat and playing in the sand under the shade of a tree with a boy of about ten years old. The boy was dressed in Western Region-style clothing and wearing a flat-topped crown.

Under the corridor next to the courtyard, Feifei lay on the ground, squinting as she watched Xiaoying play.

"My name is Xiaoying. What's your name?" Xiaoying asked the little boy as she shoveled sand into a small bucket.

"I don't know." The boy shook his head.

"How could you not know your own name?"

The boy scratched his head, thought for a long time, and finally shook his head, saying, "I can't remember."

"You're such a strange fellow," the little girl said, mimicking an adult's tone. Qin Xiaochuan couldn't help but smile knowingly upon hearing this.

Before dinner, while Guo Shiyi was out, Qin Xiaochuan walked up to Han Kexin and asked in a low voice, "Isn't this bright sunlight a problem for you two?"

"Don't compare us to those low-level blood witches," Han Kexin said nonchalantly.

"While ultraviolet radiation does have an effect on us, we are second-generation blood witches after all, and that effect is completely within our acceptable range. Besides, we didn't come here completely unprepared; technology is so advanced these days. I have some special sunscreen here, would you like to try it?"

"No need for that. I'm relieved as long as you're all okay." Qin Xiaochuan shook his head, his tone noticeably more relaxed. "But honestly, I really have to thank you on behalf of Guo Shiyi."

"What makes you think you can replace that girl?" Han Kexin suddenly scrutinized him with her gaze. "And what is your relationship with Shiyi now?"

Uh, Qin Xiaochuan suddenly fell silent. Seeing that he didn't speak, Han Kexin continued, "I advise you to stay away from her, so you don't end up hurting her."

"The way you're saying it makes me sound like a bad guy." He was both amused and exasperated.

"Just because it's not like that now doesn't mean it won't be in the future." Han Kexin's words were sharp, showing no mercy to Qin Xiaochuan.

Qin Xiaochuan sensed something was off about her words and wanted to ask her more, but when he saw Guo Shiyi walking towards him, he had to put the topic aside.

During dinner, everyone gathered in the front hall. Qin Xiaochuan introduced Han Kexin and Zhou Bin to Yin Changlin and the others, but one of them acted indifferently, while the other simply nodded silently, making him, as the middleman, very embarrassed. Fortunately, Yin Changlin was a hermit and didn't take it to heart.

Only the little girl was more enthusiastic. She insisted on sitting at the same table as Qin Xiaochuan during meals. Qin Xiaochuan had no choice but to sit at the same table with her and Han Kexin.

Han Kexin ordered a lavish dinner. When the fragrant roasted lamb was served, Qin Xiaochuan felt his mouth water. He had been so busy traveling these past two days that he hadn't had a proper meal yet.

Just as he was about to dig in his food, he suddenly noticed Xiaoying beside him waving at someone. Looking up, he realized it was the boy he had played with that afternoon, walking alone in the lobby.

Seeing Xiaoying wave, the boy walked over. He had a head of jet-black hair, a chubby face, and two big, watery eyes that gave people a pure feeling.

After the boy walked over, his eyes were fixed on the roasted meat on the table. Xiaoying smiled and said, "Come and eat with us."

The boy nodded without the slightest embarrassment and sat down directly in a chair.

Han Kexin glanced at him and asked, "Little friend, where are your family?"

The boy shook his head and said, "I don't know, I have no family."

"How come you don't have any family?" Han Kexin frowned.

Xiaoying said, "He doesn't even remember his own name. He's a strange guy." After saying that, she asked Qin Xiaochuan to get her a piece of roasted meat.

Qin Xiaochuan gave the little boy another piece of roasted meat and said, "Judging from his clothes, he's probably a kid from the neighborhood."

Han Kexin didn't take the little boy to heart, but said in a low voice, "There are quite a lot of people coming to explore this time. It's not just demon hunters, but several major sects have sent people."

"Yes, and they are both quite strong." Qin Xiaochuan nodded in response. He couldn't help but look around at the people around him and found that quite a few people were glancing at them from time to time. This was not surprising, as Han Kexin and Guo Shiyi were both rare beauties, and in this situation, they were indeed more likely to attract attention.

Qin Xiaochuan couldn't help but frown at this.

Upon entering the inn, he had already activated his Heavenly Eye to scan the group. Among them, the lowest spiritual power was level 4, and there were quite a few experts with level 6 and 7 spiritual power. There were also a few whose spiritual power level was undetectable, clearly indicating that they were hiding their strength.

"It seems there must be a major discovery in that site. Have you gotten any clues here?" he asked.

Han Kexin shook her head and said, "There isn't much useful information. All we know is that archaeologists seem to have discovered a huge bronze tree. Some people analyze that it is a model of the legendary tree that reaches the heavens in ancient times. If we continue to excavate, we might find clues about Kunlun Ruins."

"The Heavenly Tree? Isn't that the legendary passageway through which ancient humans entered the Heavenly Court?" Qin Xiaochuan asked, somewhat surprised.

"That's right. In fact, many years ago, a model of this kind of towering tree was unearthed in SX City. However, the towering tree discovered this time is larger in scale and more magical."

"What do you mean by 'magical'?" he asked curiously.

"The specifics are unclear, but we know that if you pray sincerely under the Tree of Heaven, you can hear incredible things." Han Kexin's tone was calm, clearly not taking this claim seriously.

"I'm suddenly looking forward to this adventure," Qin Xiaochuan said excitedly. "Master Zhao said that this site is at least three thousand years old. If that's true, then this bronze tree is very likely to have been cast by the ancient Wu tribe. We might be able to find some clues about the Wu tribe from it."

As the two were talking, a voice suddenly asked, "Handsome men and beautiful women, would you like to sing a song?"

Qin Xiaochuan looked up and saw a man in his thirties wearing a loose white jacket and wide blue trousers. He was holding a huqin (a two-stringed bowed instrument) in one hand and the bow in the other, smiling at everyone.

"No need," Han Kexin said coldly.

"Do you need a guide? I know this area like the back of my hand." The man put away his erhu and immediately took out a map, pointed to a certain place on it, and said, "Like Lop Nur, I don't know how many times I went there when I was a child. As for Mount K2, I often went hunting in the mountains with hunters."

Qin Xiaochuan then said, "I didn't realize you had so much business."

"How did you know we were going to Mount K2?" Han Kexin scrutinized him.

"This brings us to another business of mine that I think you'll be interested in, because I also sell intelligence, and I guarantee you'll be interested in my intelligence," the man said smugly.

Han Kexin remained noncommittal upon hearing this, and Qin Xiaochuan also smiled without saying a word. With so many people suddenly gathering in this small town, anyone should know where their destination was.

Seeing their disbelieving expressions, the man continued, "I think you're all people with superpowers. To be honest, I'm quite knowledgeable about psychic mechanics. A few years ago, I even wrote a book on the theory of psychic mechanics."

"You've even written a book?" Qin Xiaochuan asked in surprise. Not only him, but even the usually aloof Han Kexin couldn't help but glance at him again.

The man said smugly, "That's right, the book is called 'A Great Discovery That Could Change the Fate of Mankind - Spiritual Mechanics.' You can look it up; it's still available online."
