Chapter 475 - 477: Heartwarming Daily Life Extra (Part 2)
Naomi Kenway asked if Ian had drunk enough at school. "Ian has been a little run-down lately, so I reminded him to drink plenty of water."
"Ian drank several glasses of water today, and at lunch, he ate an extra orange..."
Wendy Chandler briefly summarized Ian’s day, then began to praise him profusely. "During class today, one of the children fell down, and Ian helped put a bandage on him. He’s such a nimble-fingered little angel! Not only is he smart, he’s so kind. How can there be such an adorable child..."
Wendy Chandler gazed at Ian, her eyes brimming with a smile.
Naomi Kenway ruffled Ian’s hair. "You did a good job, sweetie. When we get home, how about Mommy bakes you your favorite cookies?"
Ian shook his head.
"Why not? Don’t you love cookies?" Naomi Kenway’s voice held a note of confusion.
Ian’s big eyes fluttered. "But you’ll be tired, Mommy. You worked all day, so you must be really tired. I don’t want you to have to bake cookies for me. I can wait until the holidays."
He patted his soft little tummy and licked his lips, promising, "Let’s save the cookies for when you’re resting, Mommy!"
Standing to the side, Wendy Chandler was even more moved. "He really is an angel..."
"Alright. Is there anything else you’d like, then?"
Ian tilted his head and thought carefully. His eyes lit up. "Can you watch cartoons with me, Mommy? I like the one about the little pink pig!"
Naomi Kenway nodded in agreement.
Ian then looked at Ethan Shaw and tugged on the hem of his clothes. "And Daddy, too! I want Mommy and Daddy to watch with me!"
Ethan Shaw bent down, scooped Ian up, and laughed heartily. "Alright, whatever you say."
The family chatted and laughed for a while. Before leaving, Naomi’s family said goodbye to Ms. Chandler.
Ian waved his little hand. "Bye-bye, Teacher! See you tomorrow~"
Wendy Chandler’s heart nearly melted from the cuteness. She hurriedly waved back. "Bye-bye, Ian~"
The driver was in the front, while Naomi Kenway’s family all sat in the back seats.
Naomi Kenway listened as Ian recounted the day’s events. He said he had made a new friend at preschool, who shared some very delicious chocolate with him.
Naomi watched him intently, listening carefully. Hearing this made her genuinely happy. She always felt her son was too lonely, so it was naturally a good thing for him to make more friends.
Ian continued, "We danced at preschool today, and I was the best dancer! The teacher gave me a little red flower sticker!"
Naomi Kenway said with a smile, "You’re amazing, Ian."
Ian Shaw took the little red flower sticker out of his pocket, peeled it off, and stuck it on Naomi Kenway’s forehead.
Naomi Kenway touched her forehead. "This is your little red flower, Ian. Why did you put it on Mommy’s head?"
Ian wrapped his arms around Naomi Kenway’s neck and giggled. "I got a little red flower for dancing. Mommy gets a little red flower for being the best mommy in the world! This is my award for you!"
Naomi Kenway’s eyes brimmed with a smile. "You really are my good boy!"
Beside them, Ethan Shaw shot him a mock-aggrieved look. "Hey now, you’re playing favorites! Doesn’t Daddy get a little red flower?"
Ian giggled, pulled another little red flower sticker from his pocket, and stuck it on Ethan Shaw. "Daddy’s is right here! I had it ready all along to give you a surprise. Mommy and Daddy are the best mommy and daddy in the world!"
Only then did Ethan Shaw reveal a satisfied smile.
Watching the scene unfold from the side, Naomi Kenway couldn’t help but find it amusing.
Ian snuggled in Naomi’s arms, playing with an intricate model car.
Feeling Ian’s soft cheek press against her, she said in surprise, "I feel like you’ve gotten a little thinner, Ian."
Naomi Kenway gave his cheek a gentle squeeze, her brows furrowing almost imperceptibly. "You really have. How did you lose weight...?"
Ian said, "I want to be a little thinner, so I can become a handsome little guy!"
"But you’re already a handsome little guy! You don’t need to get any thinner. Everyone says how good-looking you are!"
Ethan Shaw nodded in agreement. "Your mommy has a point. You’re still young. If you don’t eat properly and get enough nutrients, you won’t grow tall. Do you want to be a shorty when you grow up, Ian?"
Ian immediately shook his head, protesting, "No, I don’t! I don’t want to be a shorty... I’m going to eat all my food and grow up tall, as tall as Daddy!"
As he spoke, Ian gestured with his hands. "I want to be this tall, this tall..."
After speaking, Ian buried his head in Naomi Kenway’s shoulder. "But Daddy is so tall. Can I really grow as tall as him?"
Naomi told him with absolute certainty, "Of course. You might even grow taller than your daddy."
Ian was finally reassured.
Chatting and laughing, they were soon almost home.
Ethan Shaw took out his phone and asked, "What would you like for dinner? I’ll have Nanny Warren start preparing it."
Naomi Kenway thought for a moment. "I’m actually craving a meal from our Nanny Summers. I’ve been so busy these past two days I haven’t gone to see my mom. Let’s go over now."
Ethan Shaw nodded and gave an instruction to the driver up front.
Like Naomi Kenway, Rose Kenway also loved flowers. She had completely renovated the courtyard, changing the original magnificent, splendid decor to a fresh and elegant style. Walking along the small path, one could smell the refreshing fragrance of flowers.
Naomi hadn’t specifically called ahead to tell Rose they were coming. Before they even reached the living room, they heard laughter coming from inside.
They saw Rose Kenway playing Chinese chess with Leo Lennox. The two were talking about amusing stories from their youth, both laughing heartily.
"You’ve always been a workaholic. I remember you used to perform several surgeries a day and rarely gave yourself time to rest. How have you had so much time to come chat with me lately?"
Leo Lennox had just snapped out of his reminiscence. He gazed at Rose Kenway opposite him, immensely grateful to heaven for giving him this chance to spend time with her.
"I’m getting old and about to retire. A younger person has already taken over for me. The student has surpassed the master; he does an even better job than I do."
Rose Kenway’s hand paused. She looked at the white hairs in Leo Lennox’s hair across from her, her heart filled with emotion. "So, in the blink of an eye, we’ve both gotten this old. I was in a daze and slept for twenty years... twenty years, all lost..."
A trace of confusion appeared in her eyes as she placed her chess piece on the board. "It feels like I got old in an instant. It went by too fast."
"Getting old isn’t scary. As long as we’re young at heart, we can still have fun for a few more decades," Leo Lennox said.
Rose Kenway smiled and nodded. "You have a point."
The game ended. Leo Lennox had lost, but he didn’t seem to care in the slightest, his face full of a sweet and blissful smile.
As they started another match, Leo Lennox asked, "Rose, how are your legs? Let me do another check-up for you later!"
Rose Kenway nodded.
