The Demon Emperor was Saint Emperor

Chapter 155: Commence the Slaughter

Chapter 155: Commence the Slaughter

The Demon Dragon Illidan, who calls himself the Demon Emperor, refrains from action, but once he does, it must result in bloodshed.

The five bodies outside the hall are the best example; even peak demons of level 850 are no exception.

And now, accompanying Grand Duke Gutts are sixteen powerful members of the Demon Race, among whom the weakest is Grand Duke Gutts’ youngest son, merely a level 720 Great Demon, while the strongest include five peak demons above level 800.

One must admit that Grand Duke Gutts not only possesses formidable power himself but also has gathered various strong allies not to be underestimated.

However, this group of peak powerhouses, reputed as top-notch in the Demon Realm, immediately sensed the breath of death when facing Lynn’s charge.

"Father save me!"

The weakest Great Demon among them exclaimed in alarm, as he felt targeted by the killing intent of the Demon Dragon first—after all, he was the easiest target among this batch of demons.

"Do not harm my son!"

Grand Duke Gutts stepped back, blocking Lynn’s charge route. Being part of the Frenzy Demon Race, he was skilled in martial arts. Given his strength, he was confident in confrontations with any powerful being unless someone as fearsome as the Late Emperor intervened.

Unfortunately, observing the aura emitted by the Demon Dragon, it might be as much as 50 levels higher than his, and being a warrior himself, he couldn’t protect all the demons behind him, especially needing to prioritize guarding his son; those other demons, at least three to five, might be slaughtered by the arrogant Demon Dragon.

"I told you to get lost! Can’t you understand?!"

Barbaric Charge may only be a mid-level skill for warriors, yet it’s highly effective when dealing with lower-level monsters or players.

Because it ignores equipment disparities, negates various buffs or negative states, rudely and unreasonably shoving opponents away—even if the opponent is fully equipped with divine armor or has divine power, it’s ineffective. This skill’s effect depends solely on level, disregarding everything else.

Skills with similar effects include the mage’s Ring of Fire Resistance and the divine mage’s Qi Wave Skill, hailed as essential for fighting, surviving, and snatching equipment.

"Boom!"

Lynn’s speed was so fast that, as soon as his words fell, he collided with Gutts blocking his path, without a moment’s stalemate. Although Gutts’ physique was larger and more robust than Lynn’s, he was sent flying by the collision, and his son, whom he was confident in protecting, was knocked away, spitting blood.

But it didn’t end there; as Gutts was struck aside, Lynn plunged into the midst of the demon horde like a fierce tiger entering a flock of sheep. The other demons hadn’t yet recovered from the shock of Gutts’ instant defeat, and Lynn’s axe of slaughter—oh, slaughtering axe—was already upon them.

"Screech..."

Blood spurted, heads rolled high.

With just one axe blow, Lynn killed two Great Demons, neither of whom had any substitute death demon artifacts, and were immediately slain on the spot.

"Mandio! Lenna!"

Gutts, hurled far, angrily shouted the names of the two demons with separated heads and bodies. Lynn showed no hesitation in dealing the same ruthless blow to the female demon among them, despite her being somewhat attractive.

"Illidan! You..."

"You what! Call me Majesty!"

Speaking, Lynn pursued a fleeing peak demon. Realizing there was no escape, the peak demon turned to resist, but due to the overwhelming difference in power, he was split in half by Lynn’s strike.

However, in an instant, the two halves of the corpse fused again at the cost of a precious level 800 demigod artifact substitute-death item turning to ashes.

"Spare me, Your Majesty! I swear eternal allegiance to you!"

Having died once, the peak demon didn’t dare confront Lynn again. He had already tried once and couldn’t put up any fight, and he only had that one substitute death demon artifact; being killed again would mean real death.

"Who wants your allegiance? If you had been three seconds earlier entering the room, you wouldn’t have died. It’s your fault for being late."

As Lynn’s words fell, he swung his axe and claimed the peak demon’s only remaining life.

Seeing there was no possibility of surrender, the other fleeing demons fled even more desperately. However, just as they were about to escape from the Demon Emperor Palace, they found their escape blocked by a transparent barrier.

"Damn! It’s the Palace Protection Array! We can’t escape!"

As the center of power in the Demon Realm, the Demon Emperor Palace could not merely be an empty cluster of palaces. The Palace Protection Array had already begun taking shape since the time of the first ten Demon Emperors. As the Demon Realm developed, through each generation of Demon Emperor’s enhancements, the current Demon Emperor Palace has become truly impregnable. Once the Palace Protection Array is activated, attacks from inside or outside will be entirely neutralized even by Near Gods.

Only assaults at the power of Demon Gods or True Gods could potentially break the Palace Protection Array, but today’s world is far from the rampant divine interference of ancient times. Since the advent of the Wall of the World, deities have become nearly impossible to act across realms.

"We’re trapped! Lord Gutts! Lord Leonard, let’s join forces to take him down!"

Faced with the invincible Palace Protection Array blocking their escape, the remaining demon strongmen could only launch a desperate counterattack.

But they knew that only by themselves, they couldn’t shake this terrifying demon dragon who suddenly emerged—only by teaming up with the two existing demigods in the Demon Realm could they have a glimmer of hope.

Another demon demigod named Leonard had already arrived leading the group when the Envious Demon King and Furious Demon King appeared; however, unlike the self-esteemed Gutts, Leonard possessed demigod-level power, but in front of the new generation of Demon Dragon Emperor, he behaved quite "sensible."

Hailing from the Greed Demon Kingdom, Leonard loved wealth above all, rather than power or status, but he understood that to acquire more wealth, or to secure existing wealth, strength and status were indispensable.

But this was not the most important; the truly crucial point was to judge the situation wisely, choosing the right side at the key moment; otherwise, no matter how strong or exalted your status, once power presses down, everything can be taken from you.

Leonard didn’t mind being subordinate, nor did he care about changes in status; he only wanted to guard his wealth and accumulate more. Who becomes the Demon Emperor is none of his business as long as they don’t snatch his wealth or hinder him from raiding other worlds for treasure—then they’re a good Demon Emperor.

Of course, if there was a real opportunity, he wouldn’t mind becoming a Demon King or even Demon Emperor, for no noble domain can compare in size to that of a king or emperor.

Unfortunately, the opportunity he had waited for a year was already seized by another demon—this demon dragon was too powerful, and the Dragon Race has a penchant for collecting treasures, making it absolutely unwise to conflict with him.

Leonard didn’t fear being beaten, or even death, but should any trouble cause his wealth to be snatched, it would truly spell his end!
