Chapter 322: The Fathoms Of Christoper Morris [2]
Chapter 322: The Fathoms Of Christoper Morris [2]
Rage... denial, despair these are the key ingredients to make the most depress mother fucker ever born, but someone accidentally mixed in a hint of storytelling thus Christoper Morris is born-
"Would you put a sock in it?" The age-old narration suddenly snaps, and a volley of darkened javelins falls from the sky as their target hurriedly parries the incoming danger.
’Even my monologue has been interrupted. The hell just happened? There’s no way killing that asshole would’ve made him strong-’
A rupture in the ground raised every hair on his panting self; he jumped off as numerous spikes burst from beneath. His action prolonged his life but he met the downpour of javelins as a few bore through his body, and he jerked in pain. In the brief second he lost consciousness he found himself face to face with Uberious warping next to him, delivering a non-fatal blow of a right hook.
"What’s the matter Uberious? I might be bleeding right now, but who’s the one holding back? Why keep me alive when you can just kill me? Hahahaha... I know why..." Although painfully injured, ridiculed, and nearing his death, he could only gather a few puffs of air as he felt the tightening of his chest.
"You can’t kill me... that’s a fucking given. There’s no shot for another reason to keep me alive. You need me to surrender to you,"
Although he had no right to talk smack, as the one barely catching his breath, was Christoper Morris wrong in his assumptions? His alter egos were locked away, kept from aiding him, yet this whole thing of itself was nothing more than a ruse to break him. Uberious began pummeling him to the ground, blood splatter, bones and limbs flew off, but after a while, he recovered them all.
"So I was right... No matter how much you want me dead, I can’t die. That’s a fucking kicker for you. You can’t discard me because if one of us is gone, this dreadful-looking ship that is my life is gone-" Before he could say another word, a surge of demonic energy began seeping through Uberious and thereby corrupting him.
"You think I won’t have another way? I was being reasonable with you Christoper Morris. But now, it seems it was unnecessary," The alter ego no longer cared whether or not the transition of his control over the body would run smoothly since the last remaining part of him refused to surrender.
[You’re just gonna let it end here? Come on Morris, show some resistance. It’s going to be a waste if you don’t even put up a fight-]
’It doesn’t matter...’
Although Christoper Morris spoke to Sage in private, his words echoed throughout his mind and reached his alter ego along with Yuri.
’To be honest Sage... I always wanted a good enough reason to die, or more or less something similar to dying. Becoming the side personality was one of the few things I had in mind, so all the time I agreed on doing something risky was my inner self saying this might be my chance to die. I drank my sorrows away, I denied my desire to die, saying that this world has been unfair to me, but what have I achieved?’
As he began to ask that question. His mind naturally follows suit. Images of his past failures were displayed for all to see.
’I failed in becoming a writer, I let my parents down, I could barely hold myself afloat with my job, my life is nothing but a sad existence. A practical joke even, born with a body that shouldn’t have let me survive, I was soft, and I only lived because everyone protected me. They tried to better me, but in the end, I’m nothing more than an insect, heck I can’t even make my one good relationship stable,’
As he let out his deepest darkest secret, the demonic had almost engulfed him, and his comatosed body outside began to deviate. The demonic energy went violent as if to say this forceful takeover was the wrong move, the reverse circulation could endanger his life. His body nearing its limit could only hold on due to the disruption of his friends, as they tried everything they could to prevent his approaching demise.
"Morris!!!" "Boss!!!" "Master!!!" "Captain!!!"
"Christ!!!" "Jackass!!!" "Demon King!!!"
Voices echoed throughout his mind, and a surge of heavenly aura penetrated the depths of his mind. Jin along with the others on the demonic side pitched together to hold off his deviating demonic energy, whilst Esther and Silas lobotomized him by sending a surge of Heavenly Aura. The presence of the Heavenly Aura weakened the grasp of demonic energy within him, and his shallow and depressing yearning for death slowly lost its hold on him
"This can’t be... why the hell do they like you so much? You’re just a fucking jerk to them, yet they still choose you. That doesn’t make any fucking sense,"
Uberious felt the fatal property of the Heavenly Aura as soon as it struck his pure demonic energy-based body. Although Christoper Morris was injured in the crossfire with his nearly corrupted body was riddled with demonic energy. The light in his eye returned, not brilliant, yet the color of his shallow dreadful glare reacted with the voice of his comrades.
"Morris can you hear me?" Esther’s voice echoed deeply in his mind.
"I don’t know what’s wrong with you. I can’t even say I feel what you’re going through. But please wake up..."
"This Heavenly Aura... why the hell is an outer power chaining me down? It feels like the Demonic energy is being blocked from reaching his head,"
As Uberious thrashingly threw his body around to escape the binding foreign power chain him down, it resonated with Morris’s mind. Alongside Esther’s voice a memory played in her perspective, from their first meeting and how she eventually came to admire him. The day when everything seemed impossible, an uncontrollable monster that would’ve killed her and Kyo Min Soo.
"That time... when the Orc Berserker Champion arrived. An unstoppable event in the starter city, where it kills everyone it preys..."
As Christoper Morris kneeled recovering from his injuries, the memories materialized before him.
"Kyo Min Soo and I were marked as its prey. Escaping through the starter city had no effect. We were fated to die,"
He found himself viewing the memory in which Esther was enraged by the sight of him packing his belongings as if he were about to leave them be.
"When I saw you packing up your stuff I thought you were leaving us. I lashed out at you, whom I trusted. But no... everything. Everything you had, you used it and went to fight a losing battle,"
[System: The player Christoper Morris has activated the [Overclock] function for the very first time!
Status: Overclocking a skill shall greatly increased their max output in exchange the players skill activation requirement is doubled the amount.
Outcome: Safety limitations of skills are also no longer applicable if you don’t manually manage your skill, it might become fatal.]
Christoper at the time had only saved his characters for the sake of calculating the losses he’d incur if they died. But just because he knew of a foolproof plan didn’t make it a happy-go-lucky execution but rather a path paved with blood and suffering. He Overclocked his mana breathing making him reached his max mana output until he could no longer contain it and it spread throughout his body enhancing it in turn.
"Get over here you fugly ass bitch!!!" Aggroing the enemy he became the main target of pursuit.
The monster he fought in question was designed to be unbeatable, unkillable, and a unique passive of always being 20 levels higher. A single punch broke through his bones, a single hit would’ve sufficed to kill him then and there but he survived with an Overclocked Heal. His body was broken at every second, ground to dust in every exchange, his only chance at winning was lodging a fragile weapon that had no attack value but could nullify any unique passive
"You risked your life to save us... I don’t know if it’s important to you but that was the moment I admired you. You had no shot at winning, you were weak in comparison to everyone else... yet you faced it head on,"
’Damn Esther, I don’t even understand why I’m being touched by your words. Why am I even crying for fucks sake? That was a random Tuesday for me,’
"Boss can you hear me?" As Esther’s voice dissipates from his head it was then replaced by Kyo Min Soo.
’Kyo Min Soo? What’s he gonna say about me? Is he gonna glaze me like the meat rider that he is?’
"I’m not gonna sugarcoat it, you’re a fucking bum! Seriously you think no one sees your scheming expression? I mean the others can’t tell but it’s pretty obvious to me. You’ve been abusing me as a tool ever since the earliest days, you fucker!"
Kyo Min Soo’s words can’t even come close to what Morris could’ve ever imagined, Morris was so baffled that his emotional breakdown stopped midway.
"But you know what? Every time you exploited me, I grew stronger. Yeah, you were using me to get ahead but you made sure I could handle what you threw at me. Kinda like the time when you intentionally slow your pace down to get grabbed by the stone giant,"
His surroundings suddenly shift to a hidden temple near the dilapidated greenery near the starter city. Esther had already escaped after narrowly escaping the clutches of the stone giant, designed to kill and hold off any tomb raider. Kyo Min Soo at the time had trouble manifesting his Ancestral Awakening and left with no other option Christoper Morris’s last ditched effort was to make him think he’ll die.
"Looking back now I was stupid to fall for such a stupid stunt. And reviewing my memory you could’ve easily escaped that. But you made me fear that you’ll die if I didn’t step up, so I finally awakened my power,"
Although Kyo Min Soo only transformed his right arm to crush the stone giant and both of his legs to boost his jump, Morris praised him even if it wasn’t a perfect execution. To Kyo Min Soo it felt like he was being praised even after he failed to do his very best, but to the author it was his character only transforming the body parts that mattered. He held Kyo Min Soo as a genius in mind, but he didn’t knew that the little beast was actually trying to make a full transformation.
"You put me through a lot of shit. But every time I pushed forward I grew stronger. Even when I was injured you always had my back..."
The memory paused and it began to play every interaction they made in the time they first met till present. Their daily training, each time they chatted while they eat, their dozens and dozens of pointless small talk. Heck even the time when Kyo Min Soo jokingly gave him an adoption paper for him to sign only for Morris to sign it and became his father by law of the contract.
"I haven’t actually forgive you for putting me through all of that shit. I’m pissed off. Come back Boss, so I could yell at you like befo- ho ho hor... Please wake up. Dad- I mean Boss, I don’t- w-ant to lose you too!"
He felt what seems to be a loud thud in his cranium as if Kyo Min Soo bashed his head either intentionally or not. After the brash beast of a brat everyone else pitched in and told their own memorable story as if saying all of this will magically make things better. Regardless of how scoffed this whole scenario turned out to be, Christoper Morris ended in a sobbing mess.
"What a bunch of bullshit! Are they that deranged to say all that nice things about you? Seriously, you’re an insensitive piece of work, you know that?"
At some point the binds holding Uberious was removed, but he didn’t act to corrupt him nor attack, upon seeing his sad state. The view of a man whose whole life was shitted on, and his only saving grace being the people around him that he miraculously hadn’t pushed away yet. Instead of a violent and destructive approach, he walks closer to the weeping mess that is his original personality and lend him a hand.
"I won’t change my mind. I hate you still... but seeing that made me realize you’re still apart of me. So what do you say-" The moment Uberious let his guard down he felt a stabbed through the gut, and the whimpering he heard was nothing more than a ruse to bait him forward.
"I’ll give that a hard pass!" Before anything else he set ignite to explode, sending an explosive outburst at Uberious open wound located in his abdomen.
"After a good cry I finally realized two things. Being depress is cringe as fuck. The second is that denying and hating you gives you power! You’re not just my alter ego. No, far from it, you became the vessel for the Demonic energy of the Demon King,"
As Morris’s perspective of Uberious changed as he uttered those words, the power that clung to his alter ego slips off. His mind was then covered in darkness, their power began to equalize as if to say that his edge was no longer a trifle before the main personality. The now stable Christoper Morris look relax and unbothered as if their fight won’t be a hindrance no longer all conveyed in his stare to Uberious.
"Give me your best shot, jackass. You know my play style so what are you waiting for? You can read me like a book,"
