Chapter 664: Madara Shinden: Deep Grudge

"C-chief!"

Ugh...

The chief shinobi grunts in pain. The thick earth armor around his body shatters, revealing his tattered body. His left shoulder was blown apart, revealing his collarbone and ribs.

Cough... cough...

The chief shinobi coughs some blood.

"C-chief!"

The deputy quickly seals and uses the crystal release to seal Chief Shinobi's wounds to prevent bleeding.

"Are you okay?" He inquires.

"Madara, he... he got us good!"

The chief shinobi glares in Madara's direction.

"And as for him..."

The chief shinobi's expression turns fierce as he glances at the cloaked shinobi in the distance.

"Hisui, carry me to a medic-nin!"

"Yes, chief!"

Hisui, the deputy chief, quickly carries the chief shinobi away from the battle.

Huff... Huff...

Madara also breathes heavily after releasing such a powerful attack. The glow on the Gunbai's surface fades away and it returns to its previous unassuming appearance.

"With the last attack, I have used up every ounce of stored chakra in the spirit wood. It will take a few years for it to be restored to its former state. This attack also drained me of all my stamina!"

Madara uses the Gunbai to support himself and slowly retreats towards a broken boulder to rest.

On the other side of the battlefield,

'I didn't expect Madara Uchiha to be such a tough opponent. Even with his chakra in disarray, he can still hold his own against several elite shinobis and can even battle a rare crystal release Kekkei Genkai user.' The cloaked figure mutters.

He pays no heed to the plight of earth shinobis in front of him.

"You bastard!" The surrounding earth shinobi's expression turns ugly at the sight of their chief.

They surround him and get ready to deal with him.

However, a smile appears on the cloaked figure's face.

"It's done!"

A glint flashes across his eyes.

"Genreigan: Amanojaku,"

Shiing...

Finally, after hundreds of years of relentless human persistence, the demons were vanquished and peace was restored to the land. Humanity finally emerged as the victor. With human tenacity and determination, the demonic forces were repelled and sealed. Thus, the Great Demon War Era ended.

Humanity celebrated its victory against the evil forces and finally welcomed peace. Alas, this peace too was short-lived.

With the power of Ninjutsu in hand, a few humans realized the potential and benefit of power. They craved more for this taste of power and this craving slowly turned into an obsession.

With their great powers, these humans stood out from the rest. With such power in their arsenal, they began to compete for more land, money, resources, and more power.

However, with the lack of resources and the shared common interests between people in power, disputes, and strife were bound to happen. Thus, began another era of violence and chaos.

Over a century, several in-fights broke out between humans. Humans with the chakra oppressed humans without it. Slavery, forced labor, exploitation, violence, murder, and several other inhuman atrocities resurged; this time among fellow humans. This oppression lasted for centuries until the scale of injustice reached a tipping point.

Finally, a war broke out between the two sides. However, the weak and powerless were no match against the Ninjutsu. With the feelings of compassion and cruelty, rifts begin to appear among the humans with power. Their group broke into three factions, the conservatives, the liberals, and the radicals.

The radicals openly opposed the conservatives, while liberals secretly supported the revolution.

After much bloodshed, the oppressive era ended with the victory of radicals. A set of rules and a moral code of conduct were introduced to restrict the people with power.

Thus, the very first shinobis came into existence- a human who weaponized chakra to use Ninjutsu techniques and followed a certain code of conduct for the welfare of humanity.

Any shinobi who breaks this code of conduct will be ostracized by the entire world and will be hunted down till their death. This code of conduct served as a sigh of relief for common people since it forbids the massacre of common folks as a taboo act.

Without the threat of shinobis, the common folks slowly rose to power. They competed amongst themselves to achieve balance. The existence of shinobis was almost forgotten. However, this era of peace was short-term.

The greedy nature of humanity strikes again. Several small nations in power waged war against each other. At first, these battles only included the common folks with no great power. After continuous defeats, a few nations were reminded of another great power from their ancient records.

These nations searched for hidden shinobi clans to seek their aid. Initially, several clans refused to participate in mortal affairs because of the Shinobi code of conduct.

However, a desperate few shinobi clans; forced by their circumstances, be it the lack of resources or search for better opportunities; agreed to partake in the battle. These shinobis justified themselves with the reasoning that, since it was a war, the soldiers were prepared for death.

Thus, the shinobi clans became their tool for battles and then began another era of the endless cycle of viciousness and violence- The Warring States Era.

Local lords will wage war over minor disputes, be it land, resources, or women. The several shinobi clans served as mercenaries and the battlefield between the various lords became the perfect place for them to hone their skills. The battle of nations became the battles of shinobis clans.

Among several such shinobi clans, the Uchiha clan was one such powerful clan with an ancient history dating back to the era of the Sage of the Six Paths.

The Uchiha clan, with their powerful spiritual ability and bloodline, rose to prominence. The bloodline ability-Sharingan of the Uchiha clan made them a fearsome opponent for the other clans.

They accepted one mercenary mission after another.

However, such a powerful clan wasn't without its rivals. Another powerful clan, the Senju clan, stood toe to toe against them and suppressed their oppressiveness.

Thus, if a certain lord hired the Uchiha clan, then their enemies would hire the Senju clan to counter them. Over several decades, this rivalry turned into animosity among their members. The animosity shaped into a grudge and the grudge morphed into hatred.

For a time, the Uchiha and the Senju clan stood on equal footing with neither side gaining an advantage. The deadlock lasted for several years until something unexpected happened.

A/N:- How's the side-story so far? Madara Shinden, Uchiha Gaiden, and Konoha Retsudan are intermixed with each other. Half of Madara Shinden is over and now Uchiha Gaiden will begin shedding some light on the Warring State Era conflict from Uchiha clan's perspective. Comment your thoughts to let me know.
