Chapter 417 Kind Words
Chapter 417 Kind Words
The train was big enough to transport about a thousand people. In the control room there were a lot of buttons on a virtual screen. But it wasn't anything he couldn't handle.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
"But sir, we can't allow you to leave with this train all alone. We were under the impression that you would at least take one of us with you?"
Sekani could hear the argument brewing down the hall. He expected this much, it would've been insane if the people Silva talked to just agreed for him to take the train unsupervised.
"You cannot come with us, come on, how much will it take? Another hundred?"
The people who worked around here were from the lower end of the middle district, so they obviously loved the sound of money. This boy in particular didn't seem to have that much of an experience but he was holding onto the rules he was taught.
His words weren't coming out right anymore. He was told before he came here that rules were important, he was also told that filthy rich people were important. So anyone would understand his dilemma.
"Do you want to die?" A voice from behind sounded.
Looking past Jesús Silva, the kid saw the tall and domineering man with piercing blue eyes. Unlike most of the people on board, he was wearing a suit. It took him a while but he recognised him as Sekani Waynworth, the man who launched a gaming pod not so long ago to go in competition with Blakeson Tech.
The man who made it so affordable that even people like them could be able to save up and buy it without burning through their money too much.
The boy smiled unintentionally, "sir?"
"Do you love being alive?" Sekani asked him once again.
"Uhm, of course sir, I do."
"Then take what Silva is offering you and look the other way. You'll understand in a few days why we needed this train, you're doing your country a great service."
The boy considered his words, a part of him wanted to laugh the words away but another part of him told him that Sekani wasn't playing.
He wasn't talking to Jesús anymore. He was just reminiscing, he never once imagined their lives would take such a drastic turn and to have four newborns, life was just full of surprises.
Sekani was glad that they came when they were well off. They were the new kids that will never know poverty like their first three children.
When he looked up, Jesús' expression was just changing from being offended to relaxing a bit.
"I didn't mean to offend."
"No no, you're right. Maybe we'll do better with our next one."
Grey looked at him unsure, "you're planning to have yet another kid?"
"Mm...I can't have Waynworth here be right about this, I have to change that."
Nikolai howled with laughter, he couldn't believe just how petty the man was. Having a child just to prove someone wrong was just inconceivable.
Sekani cringed at him calling him by his last name. But understood why he did nonetheless, it was weird for him to be on the first name basis with the man, he'd tried it but if he wasn't focused he kept slipping.
Jesús looked at a laughing Nikolai, "you'll understand when you have your own kids one day little man."
Nikolai shook his head, "I'll never have kids."
He was sure he would mess them up far worse than his own father messed him up. He was glad that he escaped that hell with his life, as glad as he was, Nikolai was sure he couldn't raise another human being.
Jesús snorted, "I remember being as young as you too. I swore to never marry and never have children, I thought they'd be a waste of precious time."
Nikolai wasn't going to argue with the man. He was almost certain that their upbringing were vastly different, he didn't blame Jesús for not knowing that because he didn't tell them.
"Sure." Was all he managed to say.
