Chapter 1133 - 1129: Poor Office Soundproofing

Chapter 1133 - 1129: Poor Office Soundproofing

The secretary poured out her heart, stirring ambiguous vibes for quite a while, before remembering she still had to deliver some files to Asher Land in the meeting room."Oh no! I need to deliver the files to the boss, else I’m sure I’ll get chewed out later," the secretary made a quick escape, "By the way, keep an eye on the boss’s office door, don’t let anyone barge in; Miss Smith hasn’t found her clothes yet!"

"Got it, got it, don’t worry."

The secretary sprinted all the way to the office, panting as she reached Asher Land, handing the files to him with utmost respect.

"What took you so long?" He shot the secretary a cold glance. "How can you be so inefficient even with a simple task like fetching files?"

"President Land, I’m sorry, I’m sorry," the secretary apologized repeatedly and, noticing Asher Land’s displeasure, quickly brought out a shield, "Miss Smith was there when I entered the office..."

As soon as he heard Sophie Smith’s name, Asher Land’s tense expression relaxed a bit.

"What’s up with her?" he asked, pretending to be calm.

"Miss Smith was looking for clothes, she asked me if I’d seen any..." The secretary spoke with her head lowered and her voice soft. In truth, she fabricated this, but fortunately, Asher Land didn’t reprimand her further upon hearing it. It really seemed like Sophie was their protective talisman.

Asher Land continued with the meeting, but during the process, he kept it as concise as possible; finally, after an hour, the meeting ended.

"President Land..." Yet, even after the meeting was over, none of the executives seemed willing to let him leave.

"Is there anything else?" His expression had already become slightly impatient.

"Oh, no, nothing," the group, skilled at reading the room, wisely chose silence.

He strode out of the meeting room, heading straight to his office.

When Asher Land entered the lounge, Sophie Smith was lying on the bed, bored, incapable of doing anything. Standing at the door, he watched her like this and instantly felt that his earlier trick had worked.

"Asher Land!" As soon as Sophie Smith noticed Asher Land’s presence, her pent-up anger surged, and she grabbed a pillow from the bed, hurling it in his direction. Asher Land swiftly sidestepped to avoid it.

"Why so mad? Didn’t I come back to accompany you?"

"Who needs your company? Give my clothes back..."

Asher Land ignored Sophie Smith’s protests, approaching the bed. Sophie clung close to one side, maintaining her distance from him.

He took off his suit jacket, then his white shirt, and next, his dress pants. His actions were leisurely and graceful, not at all resembling someone about to do something unsavory...

With a reach, he grabbed her slender and fair ankle, and with a gentle pull, he drew her body closer.

Sophie was startled, letting out a scream.

"Shh!" He gestured for her to be quiet, pulling a slight smile at the corner of his lips, "The office’s soundproofing isn’t great; keep it down." He deliberately teased her.

"You..." Sophie’s cheeks inadvertently flushed a bit, "You know the soundproofing is bad, yet you still do this!" Her tone carried a hint of playful reproach.

"Actually, I quite enjoy hearing you make noise the louder the better."

"..."

It seemed there was simply no common ground with him.
