Chapter 44 Sonata of Revenge? (edited)

"Woah! Look at all the things they got!" Millis pointed at the Marketplace, admiring all the items the traders were selling. Marionette looked around, briefly gaining and losing interest at the same time.

It seemed there weren't many items here that she hadn't either seen before or had seen far better ones before.

As they continued to wander through the Marketplace, Lillian bought whatever she felt like eating for tonight—from meats to veggies to spices—and stored it within her ring.

She had even taken a look at the few items that the traders sold. One particular stand caught her eye. On the desk that was draped in a brown tablecloth held a collection of weapons of varying types.

From daggers to sickles to swords and spears—one, in particular, stood out to her as it gleamed at her approach.

She stared down at the weapon that was nestled between a sword of impressive sharpness and a patterned design on its blade, and a morning with an ebony black spiked ball that showed hints of it being lit on fire.

The weapon she was looking at had a thin, narrow blade with faint carvings etched into its blade that looked like piano notes, a silverish round handle guard, and a rough, brown fabric hilt. It was a rapier.

She held up the weapon, feeling it in her right hand. It felt just a bit right for her size. She then narrowed her eyes, analysing it. (2)

[Item Name: "Sonata of Revenge"]

[Item Type: Weapon]

[Item Rank: 3]

[Item Description: "A pianist so in love with his instrument was forced to watch it be crushed and shattered under his gaze as he hid away. Overcome with grief, he crafted a rapier from his beloved piano and used it to orchestrate a vengeful slaughter against the ones that caused his grief."]

[Enchantments: "Do you hear it? The song of your undoing", "Phantom Conductor"]

'A tier three item... this weapon looks quite promising...' She gently swayed the rapier in the air, tapping the ground with it, and suddenly heard an ominous sound faintly ring out from it.

She raised an eye and decided to take a look at its enchantments. (2)

Why would it be tempting?

That would be because items like these are further enhanced compared to those in the same rank. For example, if a sword of the 2nd tier was taken from a 3rd tier trial. It would be easier to destroy another sword of the same tier if it came from a lower-tiered trial.

This is without the use of enchantments, of course.

Lillian sighed, "Fine. You win. Give me your bank details." Lillian pulled out her phone and began to type in the trader's bank details. She waited to get the "Okay" that he received it. (2)

Lillian then wandered over to Marionette, who was leaning against the wall. She stared at the rapier in Lillian's hand, "So you bought a weapon, it seems... did you perhaps not have one before?"

Lillian thought back, finding out that a sword gifted to her had shattered once she was practising with it, "Ehm... I didn't."

"How concerning..."

Lillian rubbed the back of her head with a sheepish look, "Where's Millis anyway?" Lillian asked, watching as Marionette held up her hand and pointed towards a store that sold tech, primarily phones. (3)

At the window, Millis stared through, grimacing at the prices of each phone with a heavy heart, taking short glances at her flip phone with a sigh.

She then felt a hand fall onto her shoulder, turning around to find Lillian gazing at her with gentle eyes.

"Let's get you a phone, shall we?"

"O-oh! You really don't have to!" Millis waved her hands dismissively, taking a short glance back at the phones, specifically at the prices that reached the 40 to 50 Semi range, "These are quite expensive after all... I really don't want to impose on you..."

Lillian stared at her face, which was filled with hesitation and guilt. She then laughed. She couldn't help but see Millis as an adorable puppy who would wait at the door for you to return. (2)

Lillian then patted her head, causing Millis to briefly widen her eyes, staring up at her with surprise before soon melting under her pats. Marionette stared at this, raising an eyebrow and briefly narrowing her eyes as she stared at Millis's face, which was filled with joy. (3)

She then unconsciously brought her hand to the top of her own head, softly patting it with a curious look.
