203: The queen

203: The queen

I was still in my deep thoughts, not even over half of the notifications, hadn’t even checked everything properly, still had too many questions in my mind, when Valeria’s voice pulled me out of my reverie.Looking at her massive figure that invoked my lust no matter what the condition, she prompted me to be ready as a servant, probably an attendant, came into the hall and addressed Elara, who was the only one sitting there now that all the lords were gone.

“Grand Lady Elara von Carlson. The queen has summoned you.”

“Very well,” Elara replied and gazed at us, signaling us to follow, which we were ready to do.

We began to follow the attendant, who was walking a few steps ahead of Elara, who was gracefully following his direction even though she probably knew where to go, and we were a tad bit behind her, keeping up with our roles.

Walking through the corridors of the huge castle, as we approached the queen’s private chambers, the shift in purpose was clear. This was no longer the public banquet façade. This was the reason for our presence, the queen’s condition, whatever it was.

As we arrived outside a luxurious door in which literal diamonds were embedded, two knights stationed on the outside deeply bowed to Elara, more than just a respectful bow, but a bow of loyalty, and opened the door with their hands, letting us in.

The door opened, and the attendant who had brought us here discreetly and quickly withdrew, as if it were the boundary he dared not cross.

Inside was a living room, which was connected to a bedroom. The queen’s private chambers were grand yet intimate, designed for comfort rather than display.

Heavy velvet curtains, beautiful wooden furniture with soft beddings, and a fireplace, which was almost at every high-end place. Paintings on the walls, mostly of women I couldn’t care less about.

The air in the room carried a faint scent of medicinal herbs, lavender, and something subtly sweet, remedies and comfort for her ongoing condition.

In the center of the connected room stood a large, elegant four-poster bed draped with luxurious fabrics.

Upon it, propped against a mound of pillows and buried under thick, heavy covers, lay the queen.

She was exactly as Redford had briefly described her. A woman of delicate, fragile beauty.

Her long chestnut brown hair spilled across the pillows like silk, framing a face with matching chestnut eyes that held a gentle warmth.

Long, delicate eyelashes framed those eyes, giving her an ethereal, almost otherworldly beauty that softened her features.

However, her complexion was sickly pale, almost ghostly and translucent, as if life was slowly draining from her body.

She appeared too weak to leave the bed, remaining tucked under the covers, her form frail and diminished.

The rumors that had painted her as an angry witch could not be more false before her soft and gentle demeanor, a soft, weary smile on her lips.

She looked as though she were dying, and the sight carried a quiet tragedy.

Elara approached the bedside with a respectful yet familiar air as the servants in the room began to leave one by one, leaving only the queen and us. Elara spoke, her voice warm but carrying its usual sharpness, “Elizabeth.”

The queen’s eyes lit up with gentle affection, her weak voice soft and kind, “Master… you’ve come. I had hoped you would.”

Elara took a seat beside the bed, taking the queen’s hand gently in her own. Her calculative nature showed in the way she assessed the queen’s condition with a single glance, but there was genuine care as well, “Of course. How are you feeling today?”

The queen sighed softly, her voice frail but filled with kindness, “The same, master. The seal drains my mana every day, and now it feels like not a long time is left for me.”

Elara’s expression remained firm yet reassuring, her voice steady and confident, “How many times have I told you not to talk like that? Besides, you’re not gone yet. There is still hope.”

The queen’s gaze turned gentle, but she said nothing. She simply smiled at Elara, whom she called master, perhaps in a literal sense, and not just because of her title as a noble of this kingdom.

They were clearly in a master disciple relationship, even clearer from the fact that Elara could address her using her given name, showing the depth of their real bond.

While they chatted, I also analyzed the queen as best as I could. Touching her would have been better, but there was no need to. Unlike Rayla’s seal, this one was clear as day to an experienced eye. To my eye, it was clear what it was.

A necromancer’s seal.

Necromancers were of two types. Shadow types and curse types. This was the work of a curse-type necromancer, inflicting her with a curse that eats away at her vitality or mana every day, bringing the same outcome in the end.

Undoing this seal would be child’s play for me, but there was something I wanted to do. My mind worked as quickly as it possibly could, formulating perfect plans to fuck the queen to my heart’s content, and then be a hero to her.

It was also my ticket to get into the palace and finish the king, which was easier than it sounded, because I was still only at an A rank level. I needed to raise my level in the meantime as well.

Instantly making all the plans, I put on the show of the subservient servant I was and waited for my turn.

“Master…” The queen and Elara continued to talk, “I only hope that you continue my work… after I’m gone…”

“Again. How many times do I have to tell you?” Elara admonished the queen, but there was clear affection in her eyes as she smiled and placed her hand on her cheek, rubbing her thumb on her frail skin softly, “Besides, your master hasn’t been all this time either. I have come up with a solution to your trouble.”

Saying so, she looked at me, making me “stiffen,” and the queen’s gaze followed, making me “stiffen” even more. And soon, I was going to be “stiffened” in another sense.

Haha.

“This boy…?” The queen murmured.

“He is a miracle who appeared right when there was no hope. I have deemed his special ability to be a potential remedy for your plague. Let us see if it truly works for you or not.”

The confidence in Elara’s voice surprised the queen, but she didn’t say anything except, “If you say so, master… then I shall hope once again.”

“Yes. Do not lose hope, no matter what. I won’t let you die.” Elara said with a relieved smile, before she turned to me, instantly going back to the dominant noble she was, “Come here, Jack.”

Finally, it was about time for me to do my thing. I stepped forward without wasting any time and got on one knee immediately, “This lowly servant greets her majesty the queen, although he is unworthy of your presence.”

Even if the GILFs told me to be respectful and mindful of my etiquette, they didn’t tell me to go this far. But I still did it. I was supposed to be stiff in fear after all.

The queen smiled and replied, “You are here for my sake. Stand up.”

She didn’t dismiss my greeting, which was supposed to be her right as my queen.

I stood up, but still kept my posture low and head down like a respectful commoner. Not introducing myself was another way to show I was aware of my low status, even though they were the ones who needed me right now. Nothing was as dangerous as acting like you were better than royals or nobles in their presence. Even knights could act arrogant in front of them; a commoner like me would be beheaded on the spot, if I were lucky.

“Enough of the courtesies. Begin, Jack. But keep in mind that Elizabeth is weak at the moment. Be mindful of that.” Elara cut off our exchange and hurried me with urgency in her tone.

I nodded immediately, “Yes, right away, my lady.”

“Then, may I prepare the queen for better success. Do I have permission to place my hands on her?” I asked.

“It is alright.” The queen replied in her soft tone after she glanced at Elara and got the reassuring nod from her.

“Then…”

I stepped forward, intending to take off the covers covering the queen, when Valeria was the one who moved and did it for me, exposing the queen’s body that was covered under the thick covers, hiding what shouldn’t be hidden from the world, or at least from my eyes.

Her body in all her naked glory.

Damn.

Now that’s a queen.
