Chapter 176: The High Arbiter
Chapter 176: The High Arbiter
"Alduwin? Never heard of it before now" with a slight shake of the head, a man cloaked in black, with red fingernails and a face so pale that one would presume him as dead spoke while having a bite of cold bread on a dinner bench.
This man was the High Arbiter of the enforcement unit in the bloodserpent clans main branch.
Malphas Greyback.
He was one of the few elders of the clan whom had truly gone through the struggle for the clans stability and power.
He was a ruthless, cold and calculating man. But more so than any, he was just and fair. His power and moral compass gained him the position and he had never let thw clan down in any matter.
The clans High Arbiter, the head of the enforcement unit.
"But, I will check the clan records if there’s anything I missed...also, you say the kid came with his own men?" The High Arbiter asked Zaldris with squinted brows.
"Yes, two of them are level 3 mages and the rest all at level 2....in total 18 of them, quite a significant force"
Next to the dinner bench Zaldris, who could be seen on one knee before the High Arbiter said sharply.
"Hmmm, all the way from beyond the desolate land and he’s with such a troop.....we need to be careful how will deal with him" the High Arbiter mused.
From all indication, he could tell that Leon didn’t seem like thw type to allow himself be controlled. Most of them from other branches were like this. hence, his coming here with a troop of people to show that he was a man of his own means.
Then there was the fact that he refused to enter the clan when he first arrived.....this ’talent’ was already use to being independent it seems.
"Take this seal and go to him, tell him the clans High Arbiter summons him and his companions to the clan for feast of welcoming" the High Arbiter smiled before tossing over an emblem to Zaldris.
He needed to assess Leon himself to see where exactly this kids head was at.
"Yes High Arbiter!!" Zaldris bowed his head before proceeding to leave the hall.
A few seconds after he did though, the High Arbiters face broke into a smile as he said.
"Alduwin huh? This will be interesting,"
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
"How’s the corroding effect on this one?" In the middle of a bustling market, Leon could be seen standing infront of a store with a bamboo stick in his hand.
"Not so different from the jade frog bamboo sticks you’d find in Crocqin forest. Plus these guys spell nicer"
Opposite him in a selling booth, a merchant could heard Explaining some of the properties of the bamboo infront of him.
"Hmmm, so few people" Leon noticed.
There were alot of auction houses in BloodRock city. It was one of the stable areas in the region so it was treated as a sort of hub for commerce and interactions between clans In the sacred lands.
People would come from far and wide to sell their good, hence the amount of auction houses in the city.
"Hey, I have a few late minute treasures I need apprised for the auction" Leon walked towards a booth to the side of the entrance.
The auction was already about to begin and Leon had gotten here very late. Even with the number of auction houses, it was still quite hard to get into one without buying tickets from the black market at exorbitant rates.
"What do you have?" The old man behind the booth sat up and asked.
Late comers were quite common, and placing rules against them was quite counter intuitive as this was a business. Until the auction begins fully there would be allowed to appraise or even add to the auction house’s list.
"Nothing much, just a few jewellery" Leon took out a small box from his robes and showed them to the appraiser.
"Wow"
The appraisers eyes were widened with a glow of awe. These jewelleries were topnotch thw type kept secretly in big clans for as a form of insurance.
To say Leon had spend have the money he had on rent was actually wrong. Leon had spend half the gold he had on rent, but he and Arian had snatched a bulk load of jewellery from the dalriss and faystone families.
These jewellery were of the highest quality and was kept usually In the family vaults for future expenses as a form of insurance.
They would take these out only when their funds had Been depleted.
"Give me a price" Leon said calmly, this was only the tip of the iceberg, but he was sure that I would be worth something.
"I can’t process such a purchase right now, but we can place it on your auction card and when you’re done we will do deductions and give you real cash" the appraiser shook his head and said.
These were probably stolen, but what did they care? As long as they could make money off of it.
"Okay" Leon nodded.
"Here, this has around 3 million gold worth of points. That’s equivalent to 30,000 blood gems"
Blood gems were the true currency of BloodRock city. But they were very rare, to the point that only blood clans would use them, most used gold and such.
"Okay, I hope it will do" Leon smirked. 30,000 sounded so small to him, but if it translated to 3 million gold coins then it must be a hefty some.
He took the card and went off into the auction house with a calm look on his face.
He was there to gather some materials for his future plans In BloodRock city. The outside shops and booths didn’t have what he needed so he had to resort to auction houses were there was more variety.
