Chapter 85 : El dorado
Chapter 85 : El dorado
Just like it usually happened whenever Uriel activated his trait, his presence wasn't corporeal, the only difference being that he could neither move nor speak. It wasn't unexpected, though, as just a few seconds ago he stabbed himself in the heart and was probably dying right now.
"Are the preparations ready?" A tall man wearing a white mantle with what seemed to be orichalcum shoulder pads asked the man kneeling next to him. After receiving an affirmative answer the man nodded in satisfaction. "Bring Dearest one."
The servant quickly retreated and Uriel took the chance to examine the chamber they were in. It looked like an exact replica of Kukulkan's pyramid, but much larger and made in rich otherworldly materials. Time seemed to accelerate until a woman walked in and grabbed the man's arm.
To describe her as beautiful would do little justice to her impeccable skin, her perfect proportions and unimaginable charm. She was wearing a white cape similar to that of the man, though her mantle was much more decorated and she was also wearing a rich jeweled bracelet on her forearm.
'So she is the Dearest one the carving on the roof of the ossuary referred to, this means he must be...' Uriel attempted to say but he couldn't give voice to his thoughts. His ethereal presence was much more restricted now than when he was inside his museum as he couldn't move to change his point of view, speak or interact in any way.
"Father of many nations, it's time." Said the servant, bowing his head with respect.
The tall man nodded and walked forth ceremoniously with the grace his position demanded. Something changed then, Uriel started moving forward but his point of view rocked and shook like he was being carried, as if he was watching a careless video recording from a camera on someone's shaky hand.
"For many years we have endured against those aberrations, our brethren have fought bravely against the enemy at the cost of their lives and we suffered heavy losses.
The enemy, they far surpass our strength and that of our allies, it is time for us to admit we can not win." Father of many nations spoke from the top of the pyramid, but Uriel couldn't see much and could only gaze at the backlit figures in front of him. "But fear not!
Even if we can't win that doesn't mean we will perish, for the day will come when the chosen will cleanse the earth and bring us back from Xibalbá."
Uriel was enthralled into the speech trying not to miss a word when his vision suddenly became faint and shaky as a man walked through his ethereal presence. The man wasn't as tall as Father of many nations, but as soon as he stood next to him a crowd erupted in cheers evidencing his fame and social standing was at least at the same level of Father of many nations.
"I did..."
"Don't lie to me, you're just a kid! Besides, you're not even wearing the jeweled bracelet." The man's voice carried part of his anger, which caused Uriel to fall on his butt.
"I... uh..."
Realizing that antagonizing Uriel would only delay getting any answers from him, Water warlock finally settled down and waited for the young man in front of him to stand back up.
"I think there's been a misunderstanding... your highness."
"Just call me Water warlock..." He sighed covering his eyes with a hand in exasperation. "I have some questions for you, but first, where is your priestess?"
"My what? I'm here all by myself..." He replied.
"It's not possible, someone must have used Dearest one's jeweled bracelet!"
"Oh, that..." Uriel shivered at the thought of Flanagan as a priestess. "It was activated by someone, but he didn't come."
"How did you find the path then?" Nothing made sense, at all. In all of Water warlock's life he had never been more puzzled. So much so, that genuine curiosity overcame him and he dropped the high and mighty way of speech without even noticing.
Uriel explained the details about how he managed to find the path, reveal the entrance and enter the dungeon to the best of his ability. However, every word Uriel spoke only arose more questions on Water warlock's mind.
