Chapter 46: 46. Sooner Than Later

Erick pulled out a knife from his boots, raised his shirt, and sliced open his guts. A scream erupted from Mauve.

"Damn it, Erick, we are in the middle of a meal. Couldn't you have done this after?"

The words were barely out of his mouth when Jael looked toward Mauve and she was out like a lamp. Sprawled on the seat like a lamb laid to be slaughtered, with her eyes closed and her arms fallen to the sides of her.

Jael covered his face with his palm and pulled downwards. Danag and Damon continued eating as though Erick was not in a pool of his blood.

The blood spluttered to form a path as Erick severed his gut with the dagger. More blood poured out of him and his already pale skin became even paler.

Jael stood to his feet, it was a miracle none of the blood had gotten on him. "Clean this mess. At this point, I almost wish you bastards were still bedridden." He walked to Mauve and picked her up.

"Erick!" He called.

"Yes, Sire." Erick looked like he was about to stumble over. His wound was closing but not fast enough to stop the bleeding, it was still trickling out.

"Your apology is accepted but for hell's sake, refrain from doing such at the worst of times. We didn't even get to toast." He spun on his heel and walked out with Mauve in his hands.

The guards immediately opened the door as he got close enough. They kept their heads down until he had completely walked past them. Jael's steps got faster as he walked out of the dining hall.

He got to her room in no time and pushed open the door, he carefully laid her on the bed. He wasn't sure what to do but her breathing sounded unsteady. He sat on the side of the bed, carefully rolled her to the side, and tried to loosen her corset.

It wouldn't listen to him and do what he wanted. In a fit of anger, he ripped it when he asserted too much force. Thankfully, she wasn't injured. He rolled her back so she was laying on her back once again. He pulled the corset off her and tossed it to the ground.

Her dress looked like it was on a little too tight, Jael didn't think, he just ripped her dress open. He was already on a ripping spree, why stop now? He was also afraid of moving her too much. The dress made a loud noise as he tore the top part of it, he ripped it all the way to the waist exposing her bra.

Her breathing soon steadied as he sat on the bed watching the fall and rise of her chest. She looked so frail as laid on the bed and he knew there was no way she could fit in his world.

He had to send the invitation within the week considering he had to give at least a month's prior notice but that wasn't the only problem if he wanted to keep a hold on them, he had to make sure there was blood, more than enough of it.

Kidnapping humans and forcing them to be blood slaves was one of the few things a had made sure they gave up, not a lot of vampires were happy with that. He had to prove that they did not need blood slaves else they would ruin his plan.

That means he has to ask Evan to increase next month's ration, not that there wasn't enough but would rather have too much blood than too less. He could leave that task to the guards, he was not worried about Evan saying no.

Jael picked up a letter and frowned. He recognized the seal immediately. His frown deepened. Lord Levaton was one of the few Vampire Lords that backed him up when he proposed the treaty. He was also one of the oldest vampires alive and his word meant a lot to the vampires.

Jael flipped the letter as he wondered what this was about, it wasn't as though he was expecting anything to be written on the back but he was hoping it would give him a clue as to what this was about.

He wondered if it had anything to do with why Jevera had left abruptly. Jael quickly broke the seal but he would not open the letter to read. He sighed and finally gave in, after all, he wouldn't know what it was about if he didn't read it.

Our King.

The letter started, and Jael felt his temple tic as he read this. He could already tell that this would not be good. Lord Levaton wanted something and he knew it wouldn't be something simple.

Descendant of the true vampire, the last heir to the throne.

Jael's eyes turned to slits as he read this, he knew praises from vampires never came cheap, especially praises from someone as senile as Lord Levaton.

I hope this finds you well, I am sure it will. The treaty is concluded and you have the human princess as proof.

Jael winced at the sentence, the fact that Levaton brought Mauve up was another indication that something was up.

Pay me a visit with the human. We have matters to discuss and you know how hard it is for me to travel, I would very much like to see what the humans think is worthy of you. My King, I will prepare greatly for your visit. Do not deny any old vampire this favor.

Jael dropped the letter with a loud bang, it was one thing for the old vampire to request for his presence but to add that he came along with Mauve, something was definitely up. He hoped it wasn't what he thought.
