Chapter 588: The Cangqiong Sect Will Always Be The Cangqiong Sect Of The Tianbai Empire!
"Mr. Ling, how are you?"
Yue Yunlan supported Ling Feng, noticing his weak state and the blood flowing from his seven orifices. She quickly pulled out a handkerchief to wipe the blood from his face.
"I... I'm fine," Ling Feng took a deep breath and slowly removed the golden needles he had inserted into his acupuncture points. His body trembled violently for a moment before he finally regained his composure.
It turned out that Ling Feng had used a technique from The Profound Art of Acupuncture and Moxibustion that could temporarily block his six senses and unleash his body's potential. This was how he had managed to withstand the Lei family elder's lethal attack.
However, this technique came at the cost of burning a significant amount of life force, which was why Ling Feng appeared so weak.
Originally, this acupuncture method was used to give critically injured individuals a brief period of peace in return for burning their remaining life force. In his desperation, Ling Feng had no choice but to use this method to tap into his life force at the last moment.
Fortunately, Ling Feng and Zifeng could share vitality through Vitality Fusion. Since Zifeng had absorbed a large amount of life essence recently, the burning of life force to this extent didn't have too much of an impact on Ling Feng.
At most, he would just feel weak for a while.
Taking out a few medicinal pills to restore his strength from his storage spirit ring, Ling Feng leaned on Yue Yunlan's shoulder and struggled to stay on his feet. Gritting his teeth, he said, "Let's go."
"Brother Ling, we owe you so much this time. You have preserved the reputation of the Cangqiong Sect," Hong Li said as he expressed his gratitude with a fist-and-palm salute. Turning back to the troublesome Nangong Yin, he spoke in a serious tone, "Mr. Nangong, I, Hong Li, have been sent here to escort you back."
"Hmph! Just you bunch of nobodies?" Nangong Yin, lying on Yu Qian's back, glanced disdainfully at Ling Feng and the others before snorting coldly and spitting out, "What are you waiting for? Go kill all those bastards! Don't leave a single one alive!"
With a vicious expression, Nangong Yin snarled, "They dared to capture me, the young master! All of those Lei family scums must die!"
Hearing this, Hong Li and the others immediately felt their foreheads darken. They wanted nothing more than to punch this spoiled brat unconscious.
Is this guy out of his mind?
Ling Feng just made such a great sacrifice to resolve the situation, and now this idiot wants to stir things up again?
"Mr. Nangong, we should just leave," Hong Li forced an awkward smile at Nangong Yin.
"Stop yapping, and do as I say! If I tell you to kill, then kill! What are you, just some dogs raised by the Cangqiong Sect?" Nangong Yin slapped Hong Li across the face and sneered coldly, "I am the crown prince of the Tianyang Empire's Jingwang! You should feel grateful that I even let you do things for me!"
"Oh." Qiao Qiao nodded. It was rare to see her usually composed mistress so flustered.
Before long, the group returned to the inn.
After some time spent regulating his breathing, Ling Feng felt much better.
When he opened his eyes, he saw Yue Yunlan sitting at a round table in the room, her brows tightly furrowed as her gaze remained fixed on him.
"Mr. Ling, you're awake," Yue Yunlan said, shifting her gaze when she saw Ling Feng open his eyes. She bit her lip with a hint of embarrassment. "I... I'll take my leave now."
"Were you... watching over me this whole time?" Ling Feng asked, looking at her. This wasn't the first time, was it? A warmth spread through his heart. After his grandfather's disappearance, was there anyone else who cared for him like this?
"No... I wasn't," Yue Yunlan mumbled, fiddling with the hem of her clothes. "Mr. Ling, would you like some water?"
"Oh... Sure," Ling Feng nodded.
Yue Yunlan, a bit flustered, poured a cup of hot water for Ling Feng and handed it to him. Their eyes met, and an awkward silence filled the room.
Ling Feng took the cup and said softly, "Thank you."
"The one who should be thanking you is me," Yue Yunlan said, biting her lip. "Mr. Ling, I really don't know how to repay you this time."
"As I said, just consider it repayment for the time you saved me by the creek," Ling Feng replied as he scratched the back of his head, feeling a bit awkward.
"Is that all it is?" A hint of disappointment flashed in Yue Yunlan's eyes as she gritted her teeth. "I won't disturb your rest any longer."
"Oh, okay," Ling Feng smiled awkwardly. "I'll see you out."
"No need." Yue Yunlan slowly stood up and gracefully walked to the door. "Mr. Ling, I’ll see you tomorrow morning."
"See you tomorrow."
With a soft clang, the door closed. Ling Feng held the teacup in his hand and let out a quiet sigh.
