"What happened? Did it connect?" Sophia asked anxiously while looking at her second husband, Kael.
"Sorry, madam. There is no response from the other side. I tried connecting to everyone. But no one responding. Should I inform the patriarch?" the second husband of Sophia asked in a worried tone.
The clock is hitting one o'clock. From last three hours, Luis is not responding to any calls. The room was bathed in an eerie stillness, the bright light outside punctuated by the soft glow of the numerous screens and devices scattered around.
Every ring, every vibration of a device sent a jolt of hope through Sophia, only to be crushed by the relentless void of no response.
Sophia's usually composed face is in the peak of worry. The fine lines that she had so meticulously hidden under her makeup now stood out, a testament to the stress of the situation. She had always been a pillar of strength, but now, the weight of the situation was breaking her facade.
The second husband, Kael, a lean, sharp-featured man with piercing eyes, watched Sophia closely. He had seen her in many situations, but never this vulnerable, this desperate. If something really happened to Luis, the Aries family patriarch won't spare Sophia's life.
"Second husband, call Das. I think really betrayed us." Sophia said in a determined tone as finally accepted the reality. beside her Nyx is staring at Sophia amusingly as she already expected this type of outcome.
Kael shared her anxiety, but was more adept at hiding it. His fingers flew over the holographic keyboard, attempting to contact Das. His heart raced, feeling the weight of responsibility and fear bearing down on him.
Nyx, on the other hand, seemed unfazed. She reclined leisurely in a plush chair, her raven-black hair cascading down her shoulders. Her red lips curled into a slight smirk, her eyes, a deep shade of violet, danced with mischief.
While everyone was drowning in worry, Nyx seemed to be floating on a raft of amusement. Her relationship with Sophia had always been complex; a mix of taunt, clash and competition. She had already prophesised Sophia's downfall, and now, it seemed she was getting front row seats to the spectacle.
"I always told you," Nyx began, her voice dripping with condescension, "trust is a fickle thing, especially in our world. Yet, you chose to trust Das, a man whose loyalty lies only with power and ambition."
Sophia shot her a venomous glance, her patience wearing thin. "Now's not the time, Nyx. I have a crisis at hand. My brother's life is on the line."
Kael's voice cut through the tension, "Madam, I've managed to establish a connection with Das."
Sophia straightened up, her gaze fixed on the screen, preparing herself for the confrontation. The image that appeared was of Das, looking nonchalant, his deep-set eyes betraying no emotion.
"What have you done with Luis?" Sophia demanded, her voice quivering with anger.
After that, the scenes of Bella and Latha coming out and tying Luis all showed on the monitor. The colours on Sophia's face changed with each incident. She couldn't believe her eyes as they carried Luis like a tortoise.
"Madam... that's it. We don't have any more useful information." The first husband said as he saved the data into his hand device.
"Hmmhh... What a cunning man. Sophia, now did you get my words. I warned you about Das several times. But you ignored me. Today because of your stupidity, Luis got trapped in enemy hands." Nyx said as she moved back.
Sophia's mind is racing with thought as she couldn't decide on what do next. Das definitely planned with Farus family and trapped Luis. So, it is almost impossible to rescue Luis as the Farus family might have already moved Luis out of the country. All her anger now directed towards Das.
"First husband, what is the army strength of our camp?" Sophia asked as she determined to attack Das and took revenge for playing with her.
The First husband glanced at the wrist-com before replying, "We have around five thousand troops stationed here, last night patriarch sent an additional two thousand troops in reserve. There are three elite battalions, equipped with the latest armaments and gear. Why?"
Sophia clenched her fists, determination glinting in her eyes. "Mobilise them all. I want to storm Das's stronghold. He played me, and he's going to regret it."
The First husband raised an eyebrow, showing a hint of concern. "That's a bold move, especially considering we don't know where Luis is right now. Charging blindly could put us in more danger."
Sophia gritted her teeth, torn between her anger at Das and her concern for Luis. "I know, but we can't sit idly by while Das has his way. We need to make a move."
Nyx, ever the strategist, interjected, "While I share your sentiment, Sophia, perhaps a more covert operation is in order. We need intel on Luis's whereabouts before launching a full-scale assault on Das. If we act rashly, we risk not only Luis's life but also many of our own."
The First nodded in agreement. "She's right. We need more information. While it's tempting to retaliate with full force, it's imperative that we get a clearer picture first."
Sophia took a deep breath, her rage simmering beneath the surface. "Fine. You guys Start with reconnaissance. Gather all the information you can about Luis where abouts in the past three hours. But we will attack Das tonight in whichever the case."
"Understood," The First replied, his fingers flying over his wrist-com, coordinating efforts.
Sophia's eyes, however, remained fixed on the screen, replaying the disturbing footage. Das had become a thorn in her side, and she was determined to extract him, no matter the cost. The lines of battle were drawn, and the game was afoot.
