Chapter 92 : Darkness (4)

Chapter 92 : Darkness (4)

"My eyes flew wide open, but a blinding light forced me to shut them immediately. Then, the world trembled beneath my feet. A deafening roar split the sky; on one side, the darkness surrounding the serpent, and on the other, a dazzling light emanating from the dragon, an epic clash between two titanic forces.Nôv(el)B\\jnn

"BOOM! BOOM!"

The thunderous reverberations echoed throughout the place, resonating in the confines of the universe. The very sky seemed to split in half, a great fissure opened in the celestial vault, parting the clouds and revealing a celestial spectacle. Thousands of stars shone in the infinite space, some as distant as unreachable, while other unknown worlds loomed in the distance.

The ground trembled beneath my feet, jolting me out of the initial daze. With a clear mind once more, I watched as the enormous army of the dragon began to march towards our position. They were almost infinite, an endless row of soldiers behind another, marching with determination towards our position.

The sight was overwhelming, and the thunderous roar of their steps echoed like thunder in the distance, announcing the beginning of a battle, a brutal war.

From the bottomless pit, creatures continued to emerge endlessly, like an endless tide of nightmare. Piles of them crowded one upon the other, eager to unleash their insatiable madness upon the world. If one were to look from above, they would behold an endless sea of twisted and grotesque forms, a living darkness that stretched to the horizon.

The ground was stained with darkness and madness, tainted by the presence of these abominations. Every step they took echoed like a mournful drum, announcing the arrival of doom. Among the multitude of creatures, some were larger and more monstrous, while others were smaller and more agile.

However, all shared the same thirst for destruction and chaos, fueled by a primordial madness that drove them forward.

Even amidst this endless tide, some creatures perished before reaching their goal, crushed by the weight of their own brethren or consumed by the unrestrained violence surrounding them. It was a grotesque slaughter, where life and death intertwined in a macabre dance of destruction and desolation.

The soldiers reached our position with a fierce determination reflected in their eyes. They advanced with firm steps, each one aware of the importance of their role in the impending battle. Without hesitation, they ran to the front, where some knelt and pulled out large shields from their rings.

With impressive strength, they positioned them on the ground, one after another, forming an impenetrable line of defense.

The sound of shields hitting the ground echoed like thunder amidst the chaos of battle. Every soldier was completely focused on their task, committed to protecting their comrades and stopping the advance of the corrupt creatures. They moved with perfect synchronization, coordinating their movements as if they were one.

War cries echoed in the air, mingling with the roar of explosions. My heart pounded with force, pumping adrenaline through my veins as I watched the scene with awe and horror.

The soldiers on the ground remained trapped in the same place, but I leaped over them, determined to join the fight. My eyes dazzled at the panorama that stretched before me: a vast battlefield, where thousands of warriors advanced with incredible agility.

With each step they took, they gained ground, facing the creatures with courage and determination. Every sword blow felled an enemy, and their formation never wavered, remaining firm even in the midst of the most absolute chaos.

If a soldier was wounded, they fell back to be replaced by another comrade taking their place. But even the wounded did not give up; they pulled bottles from their belongings and drank quickly, regaining strength to return to battle without hesitation.

It was an impressive and terrifying spectacle, but there was no time to hesitate. I plunged into the fray alongside my comrades, needing to find a target, needing a glimmer of hope, and this is the best I have right now, if I am going to die, I will die with them, real soldiers, if I am going to die like a soldier.

Joining the chaos of battle, with my sword in hand, I plunged into the fray alongside the brave soldiers fighting by my side. They were true warriors, protecting each other amidst the chaos and death that reigned on the battlefield.

The ground was littered with fallen bodies, both of creatures and some of our own comrades who had lost their lives in the fray. As I passed by a fallen soldier, my gaze fell on his sword and armor. Without a second thought, I bent down and picked up his body, pulling it away from danger with all my might.

Then, my attention turned to the sword resting beside him on the ground. The quality of the blade was undeniably superior to mine, and a flash of need crossed my mind as I considered taking it.

For a moment, I also contemplated the possibility of appropriating his armor, but I hesitated, unlike me, they were real soldiers, soldiers who swore allegiance to a house, the armor they had belonged to the house of dragons, I was a commoner, I didn't make any oath, but I needed it if I wanted to live.

However, before I could decide, "What do you think you're doing?!" a loud shout rang out behind me, making me jump. Turning around, I met the penetrating gaze of the man leading the soldiers, his eyes locked on mine.

Nervous and fearful, I tried to explain. "Sir, I brought the soldier's corpse from the front. Since his sword is better than mine, I decided to take it... But I also considered taking his armor..." I stammered, feeling uncomfortable under his scrutinizing gaze.

He watched me in silence for a few moments, his expression impenetrable. Then, he nodded and stooped to tear off a piece of the fallen soldier's armor. "Fine, keep it, soldier," he said firmly.

With a nervous military salute, I nodded in gratitude and stored the sword and piece of armor he had granted me. As I did so, I couldn't help but notice how the shining armor of his soldiers, once gleaming, was now stained with blood.
