Chapter 636: I Just Want To Talk To Him

"Koff! Koff! Wow, so people do this shit here too? I thought only terrorists back on Earth did stuff like this."

Mark coughed a few times to get rid of the smoke before cracking his neck and turning back to the soldiers.

"Now, where were we?"

The soldiers all felt despair fill thier hearts at the sight.

"H-He’s a monster! He’s a monster!"

"That explosion didn’t even do anything to him! How can we fight this!?"

"We have to run away!"

The soldiers immediately started to take steps back, and Mark wasted no time as he used their confusion to launch himself into their midst, and a massive shockwave blew through the hall as Mark released a punch that tore a hole through them!

[Critical Hit]!

[Sonic Impact: Lightning]!

BOOM!

...

James ran through the hallway leading out from the throne room with Seraph at his side, and they had to stop moving as they felt another series of tremors travel through the grounds! They were about to start moving again once the tremors died down, but before they could go anywhere, the wall to their left was blown to pieces as an angel soldier was thrown through it like a ragdoll!

BOOM!

Seraph immediately activated his magic, and James was about to reach for his weapon, but he stopped once he saw who it was that walked through the hole in the wall.

James released a breath to try and calm himself before he spoke.

"Before I take you to the king, you must swear to me that you will not do him any harm. Even though you are a demon, I know you are a man of your word, and no matter how much I despise you, I cannot deny that your initial intention was for our two races to have peace. If you give me your word, then I’ll trust you."

Mark shrugged.

"As long as he listens to me and does what I want him to do, there’ll be no need for me to hurt him. I just want to talk."

James took another calming breath before he started to walk back towards the throne room. Mark cleaned the blood that was flowing down the side of his face and spread out his senses again to search for Arit. He did not sense her nearby, so he knew that she must’ve retreated already to prepare for the next part of their plan. Alright, he just had to finish off here before they would leave.

It took them a few minutes to get to the throne room, but once the room came into view, Mark saw about ten guards standing in front of the large golden door, and they all released a collective gasp of shock once they saw James leading Mark towards the room.

"Stop right there! James, what do you think you’re doing!?"

The head of the guards shouted as he pointed his sword at James, and James raised his hand and told them that he would like an audience with the king.

"The demon lord simply wants to talk to the king. We already made the mistake of not allowing him to do it once, and things ended up like this because of that. We don’t stand a chance against him in a fight, just let him talk to the king."

"Have you gone mad!"

The leader shouted at James in anger as a light spell began to glow on his hand. He was not even going to entertain such nonsense at all! Did James plan to betray them and hand the king over to the demon lord!?

"If you’ve sold yourself over to the demons, then tell me right now and I’ll cut you down where you stand! You think I’m a fool to believe the words of someone working with a demon!?"

The head guard shouted out to the soldiers behind him to prepare their magic, and James immediately shouted for them to stop! They were making a huge mistake! The demon lord really just wanted to talk!

"That’s enough talking."

A hand landed on James’ shoulder, and James felt a shiver run down his spine as Mark pulled him back while walking forward. There was a glare on Mark’s face, and Mark’s next words sealed the fate of the soldiers in front of him.

"I’ll try to make this quick and painless."
