Chapter 592: Forming A Plan
Chapter 592: Forming A Plan
"I’ve seen the way you fight against the Angels, and with some training, the demons aren’t inferior to the Angels in terms of strength. The only issue you have is when the stronger Angels arrive, and you don’t have someone who can account for that in your ranks. I’ll fill that role, but for the first half of the battle, I’ll need you to take the role of commander. I’ll come in from the eastern reef when the Angels are preoccupied with you and launch another surprise attack."
Hunn’s brows rose, and he hummed. So that’s what the demon lord wanted to do. Instead of a simple two-pronged attack, he was going to do a delayed three-pronged attack. First, he would allow the Angels to reveal all of their hidden plans before he comes in to deliver the finishing blow.
Hunn was still not completely in agreement with the plan since he thought Mark would be a far better commander than him. With Mark’s skill and strength, raising the morale of the army and striking fear in the Angels’ hearts would be easy. But if Mark decided to launch an attack like this, then Hunn had no right to refuse him. He was the king, after all.
"Very well, my lord. I shall let the other members of the council know."
"Actually, no. It will be best if we let as few people as possible know of this. I don’t want the soldiers’ morale to drop once they know I won’t be there with them. So just keep this between us for now and let the soldiers fight as they would. The island is large enough that they won’t even notice I am not there until I show myself."
Hunn nodded in understanding. Another sensible conclusion. With what the soldiers had seen Mark do in the battle of the outposts, they would be a lot more motivated by the thought that Mark would be there with them, and they would fight without fear. This was best.
Hunn bowed once more.
"Then I shall keep this information to myself, my lord. I will do my best to ensure the success of the army until you arrive to take back your mantle."
Mark gave Hunn a nod and then dismissed him, and Hunn walked out of the room under the heavy stare from Arit. Arit had a distrustful frown on her face as she watched Hunn leave, and it wasn’t until he was gone that she asked Mark what he was doing.
"Did you tell him all that because you think he’s the traitor? If he is, then we should just kill him now and forget about it. I don’t like going into a fight knowing one of the people on our side could stab us in the back."
Mark nodded at Arit’s deduction, but instead of a smile, he saw Arit frown as she looked at the map again with worry on her face.
"Isn’t this dangerous for you? No matter where you come from, the Angels could be there waiting for you."
Mark chuckled as he brought Arit closer to his chest and spoke into her ear in a low, intimate tone.
"And who says I’m going to be on the island at all?"
Arit shivered when Mark spoke into her ear and grabbed Mark’s shirt tightly to anchor herself, but once she heard what Mark said, she couldn’t help but blink in surprise as she turned to look at him.

"What?"
...
The next three days were filled with battle preparation and training for the soldiers on how to fight at sea. Thankfully, the previous demon lord had already trained some of the soldiers on sea warfare since he was planning to carry out a raid before he died, so Mark didn’t need to start their training from the beginning again.
There was a large lake a few kilometers away from the demon castle, and the demons put a boat on top of the lake and used it to train their sea legs. One group of demons would cause great waves in the water using a water-based skill while the others on the boat tried to stay afloat while fending off an attack from a third group. A fourth group was at the side of the lake, training on how to hold their breath in the middle of turbulent waters under Riger.
