Chapter 571: Battle Strategy

Chapter 571: Battle Strategy

Arit learned during her battle against the assassins that attacked her and Talia in City F that she was not the type to plan out a fight. Her instincts were her greatest asset, and she had learned to trust them in battle. As far as Arit was concerned, tearing the enemy in front of you apart was the most effective means of finishing a fight.

Coming up with a sound strategy on the fly or trying to guide an entire army into battle was completely foreign to her.

Arit understood that the demons were being pushed back by the Angels, but she didn’t know how to fix it. The demons were weaker, fewer, and obviously at a disadvantage when pitted against the Angels. It was an almost unsalvageable situation, and Arit wondered if Mark would be able to come up with a way to give them a fighting chance.

"My Lord, perhaps we should focus our forces on the land over here since it is more important to the war efforts."

The succubus, Mildred, spoke up while giving Mark a curious look, and Mark turned to her and saw she was pointing at the land close to the Mining town. Mark had also been thinking about saving that land since he knew it was more important than the town close to the ancestral trading land.

Mildred smiled as she saw Mark nodding at her, and she turned to give Arit a look that could only be described as smug. Arit was not able to give Mark valuable advice, and Mildred saw that Arit was struggling with this, so she decided to gain some favor with her Lord by speaking up in place of Arit.

Arit gritted her teeth but said nothing, refusing to stoop so low as to speak up angrily when they were having such an important meeting. Arit knew that what Mildred did meant nothing to Mark other than being good advice, but Mildred’s smug look, along with the fact that Mildred was intentionally doing all of this just to spite Arit, made Arit’s bloodthirsty nature boil in her stomach!

In her QUEEN form, Arit had a similar personality to the QUEEN, and although the QUEEN didn’t say anything to Arit, Arit knew that even the QUEEN was getting tired of Mildred’s bullshit.

’If this happens again, I’ll kill her.’

Arit made a pledge inside her heart that would have terrified Mildred if she had heard it. But Mildred didn’t hear it; instead, she was focused on trying to get Mark to see the reason behind what she said.

"That’s too long."

The goblin seemed surprised by this and told Mark that this was one of the fastest means of communication in the entire world.

"Our carrier hawks have been trained for speed. You will surely not find anyone better than them in all of Rosario."

"It doesn’t matter if they’ve been trained for speed if it takes an entire day for them to send a simple message to an outpost. Where I’m from, there is a means of communication that allows you to send messages instantaneously across any distance in the world."

All the demons looked at Mark like he had gone mad, and Mark had to resist the urge to facepalm again as he saw the shock and awe in their eyes. This really wasn’t his problem. He wasn’t going to start explaining the wonders of telecommunication to them in the middle of their war meeting.

But since the carrier hawks were the fastest means of communication for now, that could only mean the Angels were using the same things. That was good. At least, it’s not like the demons were using carrier hawks while the Angels had something faster. If that were the case, then we might as well just throw in the towel right now.

Communication was very important in any war, and Mark knew that in a battle, the side with the better means of communication was going to be able to move faster and better than the side that didn’t have a good means of communication.

Mark also knew he had to come up with a way of relaying information in the middle of the battle to the soldiers, and he sighed and ran a hand through his hair. Mark really needed to get these guys into shape. He didn’t know who the previous demon lord was, but that bastard hadn’t done a very good job at all.

Finally, Mark spoke up, and all the council members who had been murmuring quieted down and listened to him.

"We are going to focus our forces on taking back the areas surrounding the mining town and allow the Angels to have the trading town."
