Chapter 561: Trinidad
Chapter 561: Trinidad
[User has selected [Crown of The Golden Horizon] as his Divine skill.]
Mark scrolled through his tab and saw all of the greyed-out divine skills before seeing the COTGH skill. Mark chose this skill for two reasons. The first one was because of the amount of boosts that the skill would give him as a person.
Mark knew that the skill took up a lot of mana to use, but it was more than worth it because Mark gained a shield, a healing factor, and protection against all flame and light-based attacks when he used the shield. And secondly, once Mark activated the skill, all his allies would gain a boost in their fighting ability, allowing them to fight longer and better than they normally would.
The system had told Mark earlier that he was going to be reincarnated into the world as the leader of the demons, so that meant he was going to have an army and soldiers looking up to him. If Mark was going to be fighting in a war, then he wanted to give his army the best chance of survival by improving their physical attributes and morale as much as possible.
’But I wish I could have taken one more Divine Skill. Styxwatcher’s Discernment would have been useful in negotiations for the peace treaty.’
Mark tapped on the greyed-out skill for a moment before he ignored it and turned back to the system. There was no use moping about it since he already made his choice. Even if Mark did not have any way of knowing if someone was lying or not, that doesn’t mean he was an idiot who couldn’t recognize deceit.
He would just have to rely on his natural senses and people’s reactions to know if they are lying to him.
Once the system accepted Mark’s decision for the skill he wanted to keep, it then continued writing:@@@@
[The god in charge of the game, [Freya], has granted the user the option to bring along one ally during the duration of the mission.]
Mark raised a curious brow. This reminded him a lot about the God of Games, and he was immediately interested.
"Do I get to choose who I can bring along?"
[No, the goddess only requires your consent, after which she will choose a candidate she believes is suitable for the user’s trial.]
"Of course she will."
A succubus.
This appeared in Mark’s mind again, just like the orc warriors, and Mark had to get used to the feeling of having thoughts pop up in his head unwittingly. He kept his eyes on the succubus as she came closer.
"My Lord, can you understand me? Was the summoning not complete?"
The succubus frowned at her last statement and looked down at an intricate magic circle drawn into the ground. The succubus seemed to be thinking about whether or not she made a mistake, and Mark also looked down as he realized he had been part of some sort of summoning ritual.
’So this is the trope the system is going for. I am basically going to be a summoned hero to the demons? Well, it’s better than just being thrown straight into the battle like how I was treated with Thanatos. This way, I can explain any gaps in my memory or reasoning, and I don’t have to rush to immediately understand everything at once.’
Mark was glad for the sort of situation he found himself in, and he turned to the succubus, who was still looking up at him in worry, and finally spoke.
"Where am I?"

The succubus, along with everyone in the room, gasped at Mark’s request. They all seemed to gain looks of happiness on their faces before they fell to their knees reverently as the succubus spoke up.
"My Lord, Vanitas. You are in the northern continent of Rosarios, in the demon kingdom of Trinidad."
"Why did you summon me here?"
Mark already knew the answer to this, but he figured he could gather more information by asking more questions. At least she would probably tell him more than his system did. The woman looked up at Mark reverently before she frowned, but she could not hold his gaze for long and looked away again and started talking.
"I summoned you here, my Lord, because our people are dying."
