Chapter 514: Catching Lightning!

BOOM!

Turner blasted down the street like a rocket! He barely had twenty percent of his mana left after that short fight, but his stamina was still high enough that he could move forward without any issues. But Turner slowly started to realize that he wouldn’t be able to get out of the falling building’s path before it fell! He was too slow!

’Have I always been this fucking slow?!’

Turner cursed his lack of speed intensely! He had always been comparing his speed to his twin sister’s all this time, and he knew that Tina was one of the fastest superhumans in S rank, so he never really thought about how his speed compared to others in his rank! He was fucking slow!

CRUMBLE!

BOOM!

The buildings finally fell from both sides, and Turner braced for impact, but a hand suddenly grabbed him and pulled him up as the buildings all collapsed around him! Turner’s breath was coming out in harsh puffs, and he flailed around in surprise as he was suddenly lifted into the air by an armored hand.

He looked up and saw Tina staring down at him in anger, and Turner felt his face squeeze into a shocked frown!

"What the fuck are you doing here!? What about the other superhumans!? Did you get them to the bunker!?"

Tina growled at Turner in anger as she tossed him to the ground roughly! Turner landed on top of the crumbled skyscraper and grunted as he felt some of the stones stab into his back and joints! This bitch did this on purpose!

"Don’t fucking throw me!"

"Shut up, you idiot! Do you think I give a fuck about anyone else!? What did you think I would do!? I would just leave you to die some fucking heroic death so I can save the others! Have you gone mad!?"

Tina landed beside Turner as her mana poured out from her in furious waves, and even Turner couldn’t maintain his anger in the face of his sister’s intensity! She was fucking pissed, and Turner felt a little happiness surging from inside him as he heard her saying all this! Turner knew that Tina was currently not happy with him because of what he did to Mark and Arit.

When he told Alec Ben about Mark and Arit, Turner thought it would be the end of his and Tina’s close relationship. But the fact that she was still willing to come back for him, even after all that, was enough to bleed all the anger out of him. He looked away with a frown, and Tina grabbed him by the shirt!

But Turner was thinking differently. Turner wasn’t like Tina who was willing to charge forward in one final hail mary and fight a losing battle. That is why Turner was trying to run away even when he knew he could get caught. Turner did not want to die here. Not when he had a lot more he still wanted to do in his life.

Turner’s mind started to run through scenarios and possibilities in his head. Although Tina was the stronger one between the both of them, Turner was the one with a higher capacity for critical thinking and planning. He could run through hundreds of scenarios in seconds if he had time.

Turner’s mind raced for a few seconds as the anima finally broke free from the concrete and roared as they charged at them. Turner’s eyes widened as he seemed to come to a conclusion at the exact same moment.

"Tina! You remember what we used to do when we first got our powers!?"

BOOM!

An anima slammed down on the spot where Turner and Tina had been standing, and they were both forced to jump out of the way before they got hit! Tina turned to her brother curiously, and Turner raised his voice louder over the sound of the anima roaring and charging at them!

"Let’s catch lightning!"

Tina seemed to realize what Turner was talking about as her eyes widened and she grinned while planting her feet. Catching lightning was something Tina and Turner would normally do when they were still newbies trying to get used to their powers. Back then, Tina was horrible at creating lightning because of how violent it was.

The lightning just refused to listen to her, and she would be blown back if she tried to create too much of it. But they were able to teach Tina how to handle lightning by creating natural lightning and making Tina catch it.

Lightning is created by the difference in charges between the bottom of the clouds and the ground. The negative charges in the clouds and the positive charges on the ground are always separated by the air between them which acts as an insulator most of the time.

But if that air is manipulated and its density is reduced to the level where the charges between the cloud and ground can freely travel, these two charges spark an intense reaction, and that gives birth to lightning.

And it just so happens that air was one of the first things that Turner learned how to manipulate with his powers.
