Chapter 507 Defeating The Trickster God's Favourite

Chapter 507 Defeating The Trickster God's Favourite

Sozin sounded uncharacteristically serious in this situation, and Mark turned to look at the still-smiling Loki at his side. The god of mischief knew that Mark was talking to his patron god, but Loki did nothing to stop him. Let him consult for as long as he wants. Loki had nothing to lose.

If Mark makes the deal, then Mark would either die or Salazar would die, and if Mark does not strike the deal, then he would have to make it his life's mission to chase after Salazar, worrying at every junction about what plans Salazar might've made for him, and trying his best to protect his family and friends from an enemy whose next face he wouldn't even know.

Salazar would come back as a different person for Mark each and every time. Mark could try to capture Salazar and just imprison him so that he doesn't cause any issues, but Salazar had a shorter lifespan than normal. The system said Salazar could only live for twenty years in a new body before he died.

That means Mark could only hold Salazar in Kevin's body for about three years before Mark had to start preparing for another Salazar in a new body to attack.

And since twenty years is more than enough time for Salazar to prepare something dangerous and attack Mark with it, Mark would have to be wary no matter what.

Mark couldn't live like that. He refused to be some sort of paranoid, vengeful bastard that chases after someone for multiple lifetimes. Mark felt his resolve strengthen again as this thought crossed his mind, and he closed his eyes and took in a deep breath before he spoke to Sozin.

'Sozin. I know it's dangerous, but I need you to trust me. I've never let you down before, not when it mattered this much, so please, put that trust in me again. No matter what Loki plans out there, I won't lose.'

Mark spoke up with conviction, and once more Sozin went silent. Mark knew that Sozin had a lot of trust in him. Even now, Sozin wasn't trying to stop Mark from making the deal because he did not trust Mark, he was only stopping the deal because he did not trust Loki. Loki was one of the most devious and petty gods out there, so his plans would always find a way to really hurt the opponents.

Sozin was just worried about what Loki might put in front of Mark when he was fighting.

Finally, after what felt like a very long time inside Mark's head, Mark got a response from Sozin.

[Comment from GoG: Fine then, I'll hold you to your word that you'll do what you have to do. But know this, I will not be made a laughing stock of in front of the other gods—especially not in front of Loki. Since you've decided to go ahead with it, you're not allowed to fail.

No matter what Loki puts in front of you, remember whose champion you are and destroy it with the knowledge that you fight for both your honor and mine. And also... be careful, Mark. You're all I have.]

Mark allowed the corner of his lip to curve into a small smile. Sozin sounded more like a father right now than Mark had ever heard before. Is it because the situation is so serious? Normally, Sozin would be like an annoying, perverted old man who only thinks about getting women out of their clothes, but Mark couldn't sense any of that right now.

Sozin sounded just like a parent worrying about their kid and for the orphaned Mark, it was enough to give him more confidence than ever before.

Mark opened his eyes with a newfound resolve that managed to shock even Loki. Loki only allowed the shock to last for a moment, but Mark caught it, and Mark smiled mockingly.

"You have a deal, god of mischief."

Loki also smiled as he heard this, and he spoke up.

Helios, the god of the sun, had granted the User the Divine Skill [Crown of The Golden Horizon].
