Chapter 447 Can't Get Over It
Chapter 447 Can't Get Over It
Luna frowned.
"The Syndicate. I haven't heard of them either. I'll put some people out and see if they can find anything. If it's an organization big enough to fund what Salazar was doing, then I'm sure they will be famous in the superhuman underground."
Mark raised a surprised brow.
"You have people in the underground?"
"Of course I do. Most guild leaders of major guilds have people in the underground. I don't like what they do there, but they are a necessity when you need information quickly. If you're planning to fight against an organization like this one that works in the shadows, then I'd suggest you find some allies in the underground as well."
Mark nodded along to what Luna said. Maybe he should think about getting some links in the underground circle. Pat was good at getting information for him, but at times like these, it might be more beneficial to have one or two ears that could help him snoop around in places that Pat couldn't go.
"Is the organization the reason why you're about to start your own guild?"
Mark hummed and asked Luna how the hell she knew about that. He never told anyone that he was starting a guild other than Patrick. When Luna saw the curious look on Mark's face, she just smiled. She should have known that Mark wouldn't realize the amount of waves his upcoming guild was already causing in the small circle of upper-ranked guild leaders.
Luna already figured that Mark wasn't the one handling the official documents about the guild, so he probably didn't know how easy it was for guild leaders to find out which guilds were about to be created.
"There's been talk of a new guild that's coming up soon. All the big guilds keep an eye out for upcoming guilds and who their captains are in case of any competition in our jurisdictions, so I was surprised when my secretary told me that a new guild would soon be created in one of the areas we operate in within City A.
The guild already bought a license and jurisdiction ticket from the government, and they stated their backers to be the Vanitas Motors Enterprise. If not for that, I probably wouldn't have been able to tell that it was your guild. There's no way you would sponsor some random guild with your company name."
They were both dressed so casually that anyone who saw them now would never think they had just come from watching a man get beheaded. It made Luan feel oddly comfortable, like they were going out on a date.
Luan pointed out a store as they passed by with a smile on her face.
"I usually go over there to get burgers before going to the office. They're the best I've ever eaten."
Mark hummed and raised a brow playfully.
"There's no way it's better than McRonalds."
Luan laughed.
"It's a lot better, trust me. Once you taste this burger, there's no way you'll want to try another McRonalds ever again. Just don't buy the pickles and sausages. Even your superhuman stomach won't be able to hold it in."
Mark chuckled as he gave Luan a conspiratorial nod, like he was hearing a big secret that he would have to confirm later before trusting her words. He turned another corner and accelerated onto the highway. There was a car in front of him, but Mark easily swerved around it and sped past.
"Oh, that's right. I promised you dinner for winning against that Eldritch, didn't I? Maybe we'll try it sometime when we're both free."
Luna's eyes widened in shock when she heard this. She couldn't believe that Mark remembered that promise at all! She thought he would have forgotten after everything that happened.
A small blush rose on Luna's cheeks as she felt a giddy feeling in her heart. She laughed as her body became lighter and she leaned on the glass beside her with a smile on her face. It was because of these acts of kindness—all the small things that Mark did without ever seeing them as anything serious—that Luna just couldn't get over him.
