Chapter 66
Chapter 66
The sect master of the Beast Taming Sect was a female cultivator at the early stage of Deity Transformation. Her skin was fair, her eyes a deep crimson, and her waist slender and supple. The thin spring robe she wore did little to conceal the alluring curves beneath. However, when it came to dealing with beasts, she was ruthless. Normally, the sect master rarely stayed within the sect, preferring to roam the deep forests of the cultivation world, interacting with demonic beasts. Using her charming demeanor and violent methods, she lured them back to the sect to work.
It was only because of this Kirin egg that she had stayed in the sect for so long.
Nie Yinzhi immediately saw through her true form—a half-demon green snake. The faint green demonic aura emanating from her did not dare to get too close, instead intertwining with the Shadow Snake nearby.
The Shadow Snake raised its head, its tail swaying under the teasing influence of the demonic aura. "I have come today on serious business," it said.
"Of course," the green snake woman replied with a light chuckle, covering her mouth. "I didn’t know when you would arrive, so I haven’t yet retrieved the Kirin egg from the eagle owl’s nest. Would you like to accompany me to fetch it? You can also take a tour of the Spirit Beast Valley."
"Sure," Nie Yinzhi nodded.
The Luoluo Mountain was remote and secluded, surrounded by towering peaks. The reason a large Spirit Beast Valley could be established here was due to the spiritual vein running beneath the mountain. Spiritual veins were the foundation of the earth, something that the false Heavenly Dao of the "plot" could not touch, and even Gu Jiang’s demonic energy could not corrupt.
The eagle owl’s nest was deep within the dense forest of the Spirit Beast Valley. The tall tree crowns had been twisted and bound together to form the framework of a nest as large as a small hill. Thick layers of dry grass and various animal pelts cushioned the nest, making it visible from afar as an aerial residence perched atop the trees.
Eagle owls were fiercely loyal birds, always appearing in pairs. The female bird sat in the nest incubating the eggs, while the male bird let out a warning screech as soon as it noticed strangers approaching.
The sect master of the Beast Taming Sect took out a short whistle from the pouch at her waist. With a brief whistle, the flapping male bird immediately tucked its head in submission.
She approached alone, reaching under the eagle owl to retrieve the Kirin egg. When she handed it to Nie Yinzhi, the egg was still warm to the touch.
"This Kirin egg might take a while to hatch. The consciousness inside can communicate, but you’ll need to find a way to awaken it," the green snake woman said, glancing at the sky. "By this time tomorrow, the egg must be returned to the eagle owl’s nest."
"Understood. Thank you, Sect Master," Nie Yinzhi replied.
"Don’t mention it," the green snake woman smiled softly. "I’ll have someone escort you to rest."
After settling into her guest room, Nie Yinzhi immediately sent her spiritual sense into the Kirin egg. Inside the shell, she found a membrane-like layer of sword qi—Mystic Soul Sword Qi—protecting a small, not yet fully formed beast.
Han Jing’s consciousness was dormant, shielded tightly by the Mystic Soul Sword Qi. To wake him, a more forceful approach would be necessary.
Nie Yinzhi summoned Honghu, a small phoenix bird the size of a palm. It perched on the Kirin egg and began pecking furiously at the shell.
The clash between Honghu’s sword qi and the Mystic Soul Sword Qi jolted Han Jing’s consciousness awake.
This Kirin egg contained a nearly dead juvenile form, kept alive by sheer will for hundreds of years. Han Jing had been reborn within this egg, but he couldn’t simply wait to hatch. He had to slowly revive this half-dead egg.
After a brief rest, Han Jing was rudely awakened. Thinking it was the eagle owl above venting its frustration on the egg that didn’t belong to it, he sent out a burst of sword qi. Only then did he sense the intense sword qi of Honghu and fully awaken, exclaiming, "Who’s there?"
Nie Yinzhi, who needed his help, was polite in her response. "Disciple Nie Yinzhi pays her respects to Ancestor Master."
Han Jing’s consciousness pressed against the eggshell, peering out. Recognizing her, he was momentarily stunned. "Ah... this... cough, no need for formalities."
"Forgive me for disturbing your incubation, Ancestor Master. I have a question to ask," Nie Yinzhi said without further pleasantries. Though she had heard much about him, this was her first time meeting Han Jing. "I want to know..."
Nie Yinzhi tossed and turned, so troubled that she began losing hair.
It wasn’t until the next morning, when Feng Hanying’s Shadow Snake slithered out, that she realized it had been missing the day before. It coiled on the courtyard wall. "Han Jing returned on his own. Did you finish your discussion?"
"Mm." Although it felt rather useless, Nie Yinzhi looked listless and disheartened. She wanted to go back and hug the demon lord.
Upon noticing the aura of the Qingnv demon on the Shadow Snake, Nie Yinzhi perked up a little, somewhat surprised. "I didn’t expect you to find your destined one so quickly?"
Feng Hanying was baffled. "What?"
"Qingnv." Since Feng Hanying likely no longer had any family or elders, Nie Yinzhi, as his master’s wife, might even have to drink tea at his wedding. It wasn’t out of place for her to care about her disciple’s future. "Did you capture the temple master just to divine your fate with Qingnv?"
Feng Hanying wagged his tail and nodded. "I did divine her fate too."
"Too? Did you divine many people?"
"Not just people." He had cast a wide net. Since he had the temple master by his side, he’d occasionally ask him to divine for anyone or anything that crossed his path—even a passing goose. If the temple master couldn’t divine the right match for him, he wouldn’t even be allowed to die. Feng Hanying had even brought in high-level righteous cultivators to unblock his spiritual meridians and had his demon generals supervise his cultivation. With such methods, any bottleneck was practically nonexistent.
Nie Yinzhi was confused. "Then what about Qingnv...? You have her aura on you."
"Oh." Feng Hanying understood and swept his demonic energy around him, clearing away the traces of Qingnv’s aura. He said nonchalantly, "We just mated. It was a mutual exchange, nothing more."
Nie Yinzhi: "..." So, Feng Hanying hadn’t just sold out Han Jing—he’d sold himself too.
[Ahhhh! Feng Hanying, you filthy thing! You’ve lost your virtue!]
[Ugh, why can’t you learn from your master??]
[Stop divining! A man without virtue doesn’t deserve a destined one. Focus on your career instead.]
[Maybe Qingnv is his true love? Love born from... you know.]
[Wuwuwu, goodbye. I don’t want to transmigrate into this story and be your wife anymore.]
[Guys, come on, didn’t you already know Feng Hanying wasn’t a virgin from how much he knows? What were you expecting?]
[He’s been the Demon Lord for hundreds of years, living in luxury and experiencing the world. My heart is broken.]
[Wait, so even spiritual clones can... do it? Hehehe, the bunny...]
[Uh, that’s a bit twisted, isn’t it?]
[Nie Yinzhi should create a spiritual clone too, please! It’d be just like the pairing of a guide and sentinel’s spiritual avatars.]
[The world of cultivation is just so wonderfully bizarre! Absolutely amazing!]
