Mark enjoyed the feeling of just resting with her after all the fighting they had done, but he knew that the peace was not going to last for long as he finally brought up something important.

"Hey, Arit... When did you last see your period?"

Arit blinked, and her eyes flew wide open as she quickly sat up in bed.

"What?"

Her voice was low and surprised when she spoke, and Mark put his hands behind his head as he regarded her gently. He didn’t need to repeat the question because he knew she heard him, so he just waited patiently for her to say something more.

Arit looked like she was going through an existential crisis. The shock of being asked a question like this just after having sex was too much, but she calmed down and furrowed her brow as she started to think of an answer.

"When did I last see my period? Holy shit... shit... Fuck! When did I last see my period?!"

Arit started to trace her mind back to when she last had her period, and the further back she went, the more her expression slowly started to change—from shock to realization and then finally to distress as she looked at Mark with wide, terrified eyes.

"Mark... I’m late. I’m very late! No, this can’t be happening. This can’t be happening!"

Arit brought her hands to her face in fear, and Mark finally sat up as he grabbed her and brought her to his chest.

"Hey, it’s fine. Calm down. I told you already, didn’t I? I’m here with you, so everything is going to be fine. Do you know how long ago it was?"

"What are we going to do, Mark? I’m not ready to be a mom. I still have to go to school, and I’m not even eighteen yet! What... what about college?"

Arit’s voice broke when she spoke about going to college, as she realized the gravity of what she’d done by forgetting to take her pregnancy pills that one time. If she had this baby, Arit was sure she wouldn’t be able to focus on college properly. She would never want to leave her child to be taken care of by someone else, and since both Mark and Luna would be busy with superhuman business, Arit knew she would have to be there a lot for the baby. She didn’t know if she could do it!

Mark nodded as he ran a hand through Arit’s hair. He understood that Arit was in no way ready for all of the responsibilities that came with being a parent yet. Arit still wanted to go to school and finish her education, and she couldn’t do that properly if she was always worrying about her kid. Missing nine months of school because of pregnancy leave was going to mess up her education like crazy!

Even though Mark wasn’t against having a baby now, he couldn’t just push his own desires on Arit. He would wait until she was ready before he even thought about having a kid.

"We’ll talk to Jeanne about it once we get out. Just relax, Arit. I’m sure there’s something we can do."

Arit still felt a bit troubled by what was happening, but Mark’s calmness and the ease with which he told her that it would all be fine managed to make her relax. Arit knew that as long as Mark told her it would be fine, then everything really would be fine.

Arit nodded against Mark’s chest.

"Thank you, Mark."

Mark grinned.

"But you know, you would make an amazing mom."

Arit’s blush deepened as she felt her heart flutter at his words. Really? Mark thought she would make a good mom? Arit spoke up in a shy voice.

"R-Really? I-I don’t know about that. I mean, you would be the fun parent. All the kids we know love you, so our kids will definitely love you too. But they’ll probably not like me since I’m always going to be nagging at them."

Mark chuckled as he imagined Arit shouting at their kids to go to bed because it was late or telling them to eat their vegetables when she made it for them. Arit already nagged at him whenever he did something silly, so he knew that it would be no different for their kids.
