Chapter 526 All The Firepower We Need

Chapter 526 All The Firepower We Need

"And why aren't you out there trying to do your part against the monster?"

Henry Ford frowned in irritation. Henry could see the looks of interest on the faces of most of the soldiers around as they all waited for him to answer the question, and he just shook his head as he gave a cryptic answer.

"We all have our parts to play in this game, Mark Vanitas. The part I play isn't found in the middle of a battlefield. It's found here."

Mark clicked his tongue in annoyance at the bullshit response. It didn't matter what sort of nonsense duty Henry thought he had to fulfill here. As far as Mark was concerned, someone with as much power as Henry would have been a game changer if he went out and helped against the anima invasion.

If Henry had been in the middle of the action, even if he didn't stay on the battlefield for long, Henry would have saved at least a hundred more people.

"Fucking coward."

Mark glared at Henry for a moment longer before he turned and left.

As Mark was passing the German woman, she stepped into his path again, and Mark looked down at her with as much irritation as humanly possible. The woman put a hand forward and touched Mark's chest suggestively.

"You seem like a very interesting person. Tell me, are you going to be busy after this? Perhaps we can go somewhere to talk... amongst other things?"

"I have a girlfriend. Fuck off."

"I'm no stranger to stealing men away from their lovers. You definitely won't regret choosing me instead."

Mark just pushed her out of the way roughly and continued moving forward, and she grinned as she watched him go. So, he was a rough one.

She liked that.

"Madam Ida. The plane is ready for us."

The woman ignored her subordinate as she started to follow after Mark to board the military-grade carrier that was waiting for him.

"I'm taking this one instead. The rest of you follow after me."

[I did, yes.]

General Raj took a shallow breath.

"And are you watching what I'm watching? A monster like this, do you think GHOST will be able to handle it?"

Patrick went silent as he heard the general ask this. Patrick could understand the General's fears. The last time they saw Mark, he was still struggling against Eldritch-class monsters, so they couldn't imagine him handling an Armageddon. No one could.

General Raj took Patrick's silence as a confirmation of his fears, and he sighed tiredly before he spoke.

"There was a missive that went out recently to the top echelons of the military. The government is considering... sending in an airstrike to bombard and destroy City G. A monster like this can't be allowed out of the city."

[That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Do they think a monster like this can be killed by an airstrike?]

General Raj shook his head.

"It's a new weapon created from anima mana. One blast from it will be enough to level an entire city. They want to drop ten at the same time."

Patrick went silent in shock, and General Raj desperately waited for Patrick to say something. Anything at all. General Raj did not want to resort to a tactic like this. He knew the amount of damage that would be done to both the people as well as the city itself from a blast that potent. It would erase City G and everything in it from the map.

General Raj wanted to believe that GHOST would be able to change this battle. If GHOST could do that, then they wouldn't need that airstrike.

Finally, after some time, Patrick spoke up.

[Tell them to hold off on it. They won't need it.]

"Patrick—"

[General, I've known GHOST all my life, and if there's one thing I can assure you of, it's the fact that he always does exactly what he sets out to do. If GHOST believes he can handle this monster, then I believe it too. Tell them to hold off on the airstrike. We've got all the firepower we need.]
